Hi,

I am looking for a recommendation on the fastest GPU the antec nsk 1300 can take with the stock 300 W psu and no mod on the case.

I appreciate suggestions on the above.

I currently run an x1300pro without any problems at all.  I'm thinking of replacing this with an x1950pro, so would also be interested in any comments.

what are you upgrading from?  Or do you not have a video card yet?  What are you going to be using the card for? Games, HTPC, Internet/E-mail?

Hi, my NSK1300 is running AM2 4200x2 (65w) on an MSI K9VGM-V motherboard + 1
gb RAM + 1HDD. Not overclocked. Runs sweetly with the X1300pro but I'd like to upgrade to an Asus EAX1950pro - this runs cooler than the Sapphire version apparently. I see that many on the forums are running the x1950pro in Shuttles with a 250w PSU!

I am right now on the onboard g33 graphics and wish to upgrade to a 8600 gts / 8800gts 320 or even go further if possible. The processor is E6750.

I am worried about how much the powersupply can cope.

Its a 300 W low profile power supply, but I am not sure its the same with Aria.

Give the 8600GT/S a miss and jump straight to the 8800GT. Just give it a few days though as it seems it is too expensive at the moment due to lack of supply and very high demand. It should come down to a reasonable 140£ and it seems to be near as good as a GTX and it overclocks fairly well so you can push it past the GTX too.

Also the card consumes only about 90W-100W when in full usage so It is safe to assume that if you avoid overclocking then your 300W will have not problems with it!

thats a HUGE assumption... even if the 18a on the 12v rail can sustain an 8800GT, the card itself probably won't fit. You also need a 6 pin power connector.

I would say you probably fail on at least one of those three points, and an 8600GT would be the smartest choice.

Compact, low power consumption, and no external power connector.
