BIOS flashing is like waiting for an STD test after Mardi Gras; you just cross your fingers and hope it all works out.  Anyways....  Awesome tutorial on the USB stick method.  Especially the added bit about getting it to boot correctly.  Worked like a dream for the new P BIOS for the SG31.  Kudos!!!!

How would I verify the BIOS checksum? The checksums posted with the bios on the shuttle website are all 4 characters., but the awdflash program reported 5 characters. For example, I'm looking at the K45 update SK45U10I. The website says the checksum is 4800 but awdflash reported AE8F4.

Hi, I tried using Winflash and it show me the checksum 4800H for SK45U10I.
I updated mine K45 nad realize some changes in the bios.
There is additional option for Support FSB 1333 mhz cpu.
So should be able to run a E8400 in K45...

I can't use WinFlash because I don't have windows.
I don't think the download I got was corrupted. I downloaded it several times and md5sum matched for each download and each file transferred to the boot disk. Does anyone know if WinFlash and awdflash use different checksum algorithms? Perhaps the posted one is only for winflash.

hello All,
i would like to make a boot cd to flash the bios to the newest version on my new SG41J1 PLUS, because while the machine booting up, neither my ps/2 , nor my usb keyboard is working, so i am unable to enter the bios to make some necessary changes. I planned to follow the very first method explained in this topic : http://www.sudhian.com/index.php?/forums/viewpost/871445/ , downloaded the newest bios from here: http://image.shuttle.com/ResourceCenter/download_file.jsp?file_id=14378, but when unzipping the file it does not extract the files mentioned in this description ' (should be the BIOS *.bin file and the awdflash.exe file) ' , it extracts the followings: afudos.exe, flash.bat, SG41P_00.103.   How should i proceed on flashing the bios, since these files in the new bios zip are different then the ones in the description?

Ps: i tried to flash the bios under windows 7 too with the SG41P_00.103.exe file, but it was running into error for some unknown reason. Also i am unable to flash the bios with a flashdrive, because being unable to enter the bios i cannot change the boot sequence, so that is why i need to use a boot cd. Thanks for your help in advance.

Previous issue has been just resolved, managed to boot from a usb flashdisk, i formatted the pendrive with the HP stuff, unzipped afudos.exe, flash.bat, SG41P_00.103. to the usb pendrive root directory , and since i could not use my keyboard, renamed the flash.bat file to autoexec.bat, inserted the pendrive in the shuttle, booted it and there you go, it was flashed to the newest bios, and yes, now i can use my keyboard during the boot up, and can enter the bios and etc. Thanks lat47 for your explanation
