I've always been fond of Plextor and Yamaha.  However, recently I got a LiteOn drive and I have to say I'm very happy with it and the price can't be beat.  They even got an OEM deal with Dell so they're moving up in the world

This is just a rumor, but I heard the much cheaper TDK drives are rebadged Plextors.  Performance is exactly the same, and they are a lot cheaper.

I'm very happy with my Pacific Digital(Lite-On) 16x10x40. Performance and price can't be beat.

I have my reservations about a 24x burner that costs $85, I could be wrong though. The TDK 24x is around $125, it's supposedly a very solid drive. I have the Yamaha 3200E and I've yet to burn a coaster with it, however I also spent more than I should have on it.

Tdks Velocd cdrw its incredibly solid with burn proof and comes with several apps such as nero 5.5 but i love mine and got it on sale locally at Compusa for $99 the 24x x10 x 40 model. It was also top rated by several mags like Pc World and maximumPC,CC

That's because your TDK is actually an OEM Plextor.  GREAT buy.
