DarkHarborFla, where are you?

Our former biggest producer hasn't turned in anything since early Sept. So now there is no more competition after getting to the top?

Hey guys,

I was wondering about DHF myself.  I do remember him commenting in one of the threads awhile back that there tended to be a cycle to people's folding.  Generally that they had a goal they wanted to accomplish and then they move on.  We had the same thing happen with another super folder a few years back.  If you remember Mark J. Foster who was very active in the forums, and helping the folding team with advice,  plus building the coolest looking folding farm I've ever seen.  He disappeared rather suddenly and wasn't heard from again.  If I remember correctly, Sudhian's founder even called his house to check on him because folks were so worried about him.  Again, if memory serves, I think he reached Mark's girlfriend who said he was fine and took a msg. for him.  But as far as I know, no contact after that.

I myself have started and stopped folding several times.  Folding does take a bit of time and energy to keep running if you are cranking out a lot of points.  It's sort of like driving an old car, you have to keep mucking with it if you want to keep it running.  So I'm sure folks hit a point where they just say, "I can't mess with this right now".  I've got a folding machine down and another one ready to build that I just haven't done because I haven't had the time.

So DHF if you're out there... We miss you man.

Rog!  Good to hear from you!

I've been barely plugging along with the points.  I lost a few old machines, that were slow but steady.  There were at another location that no longer has net access.  My big point folder is at a friend's house, and still haven't got it back.  It was supposed to be a temporary fix, but that fix has lasted a whole lot longer than I wanted.  I'm also not folding on my main rig.  I don't leave it on all the time, and tend to miss deadlines...  I keep hoping to get back in the game in a big way, but things keep getting pushed back.  Maybe when the Rogue is done!

Lost a mobo on one of my rigs waiting for a replacement..for now running on 3 rigs, once the Aussie Summer runs it's course and that mobo arrives I should be back to speed, again.

Plus I'm changing the water cooling kits across all my rigs so I tend to have each one down for bout a week while the dremel the crap outta it do a refit and bring it back up.

After some Googling, I came to the conclusion that Mark J. Foster was the technical father of the OLPC project.  Anyone else seen him doing that?
