Quickly Optimize Task Manager...

This optimizes your Task Manager, Process and Network tabs.
On the network tab, simply click to the left of the right scroll-bar arrow once to get a convenient throughput display.
Best to stick a startup link for TaskMgr.Exe in the Startup menu so it runs on boot.

this is the same a going to TASK MANAGER>VIEW>SELECT COLUMNS and place a checkmark on every available option.

...and reorganizing the columns and setting their widths.  What you get when you simply check everything is a mess that has you scrolling to the right all the time instead of having the items you're most likely to use placed before you.  Also look at the network tab and click to the left of the right scroll arrow as directed in the initial post.

If it were simply that... checking some stuff... I wouldn't have wasted your time.

Try the settings for Process Manager... the customizations there are far more time consuming to setup.

intuit, this is a cool hack. i didn't think about it. but you, the registry hack master, has figured out how to do it with out checkmarks. as always, impressive!  the registry is the way to go when you can't do anything the GUI way. im answering Zs question as to what this would look like if it were applied.

Not a hack, not a master but I appreciate the enthusiasm.  If you want to find where any program stores it's settings, simply take before and after snapshots of the registry, then use WinDiff.Exe support tool to compare the two exported files.  Many programs do not store their settings until they are shutdown.  (this is particularly true for certain settins in Explorer.Exe)

Settings for Process Monitor Version 11.20 (08y08m29d) under Windows XP  (will add a Vista reg later)
You may need to change the debug help path and the window placement settings are from a system running 1280x1024 (5:4); simply meaning you'll have to maximize (Alt + Space, X) or drag the window by it's title bar.  Don't worry it won't change your windows font and background color.  But the reverse color-scheme is easier on the eyes especially for those who look at screens all day.
