No, this is not a spammer. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23490612/"" SEATTLE — The Seattle Biomedical Research Institute will pay volunteers as much as $4,000 to be bitten by mosquitoes infected with malaria.
Scientists say no lives are in danger because the volunteers can be cured. The institute is testing which vaccines work fastest.
The head of the program, Dr. Patrick Duffy, said volunteers will spend several nights under medical supervision in a hotel.
All of the human trials will be reviewed for safety by the Food and Drug Administration. "

Both of my parents have had malaria - my mom twice... I would not want to have it, regardless of the pay involved...

Nor I. Even the vaccines against it suck. Four grand isn't worth the misery to me.

I'm unemployed and in Seattle.. It's tempting, but, no. Dude, we gotta do coffee sometime! Of course I've been saying that to Doomzilla for the past several months and it hasn't happened yet. Must be my BO or something.

515 Million people Infected in the world, 2-3 million dying a year. And they want to try out their drugs by infecting it into healthy people - and whats worse they'll probably get volunteers from those desperate enough to want the money like the extremely poor.
Why not use $4,000 to fly the research team to a Lab in Africa and test it on real patients?

Well I'm gonna have an affair with your wife!

I would volunteer. I'll just have catalogues of Crutchfield with me so I can have something to visualize my $4000 purchase when I leave the hotel.

Geeze you two, get a room, will ya? As for this malaria thing. Hmm, fly a few people to some 3rd world shit-hole, and test the frackin' drug on some people in areas that have a high risk. Would have thought it would be a damned sight cheaper. LINC
