I must admit that I thought that I'd read somewhere that Shuttle were no longer supporting XPC Tool.

Anyway, popping onto the Shuttle website and V1.7.2 has appeared and according to Shuttle (with a couple of my own comments).........

*This version support 45nm processor
*Disabled CPU Overclock function (er, why?)
Supported XPC models:
# SP35P2
# SP35P2 Pro
# SX38P2 Pro
# SD30G2/G2B/G5/G2 PLUS
# SG33G5
# SG33G5M
# SG33G5 Pro
# SG33G5M
# SG33G6 Deluxe
# SN68SG2
# SN68PTG5
# SN68PTG6 Deluxe (good as this is what I own)
# SG31SG2
OS : Windows Vista(32bit),Windows XP(64bit),Windows XP(32bit)

I'll give it a go and see if it's an improvement on Smartfan (I'd like to keep the CPU a bit cooler than Smartfan does) although I've already noticed that loading previously saved profiles does not restore the settings completely correctly.

I'd rather use Speedfan but I've never managed to get it to work satisfactorily on my system (although if anyone has a decent configuration for the SN68PTG6 I'd be interested to know what it is).

BTW I've just set up an SP35P2 Pro with a Q6600 Quad core and installed the XPC Tool (with Windows XP) that came with it and every time I ran XPC Tool it crashed the machine.   The new version of XPC Tool runs fine - seems the version of XPC Tool that is shipped doesnt support 45nm cores.

Can I ask you specifically what happened when you ran it when it crashed your machine?  What did it do?  Trying to see if what you're experiencing is the same thing I experience -- immediate video corruption.

Thanks!

Yes, I rad as Adm.. Tools will not work on my other Shuttle also.  Even tried Safe mode.

It seems to have installed correctly but when running returns the "Not installed" message.

I like Shuttle computers
Once upon a time they built Server Class Motherboards that performed flawlessly and worked as specified forever.

That said - XPC tools is a load of crap. It does not work - as advertised , as specified.

It is an embarasment to the company - IMHO.

I am using 7.1 and it works ok.  I don't know why you'd disable the overclocking features.    The only thing XPC tools is really good for is for increasing the fan speeds as the processing loads go up.
