I can't seem to be able to see the game created by the Host. I start the game on one of the PCs, then when I try to see a list of games on the other (Guest) PC, it shows an empty list. Thus I can't join the game. Is there a fix for this? I am running latest patch 1.09. The two PCs are connected to the same LAN switch, and one has Internet, the other does not. OS is WinXP Pro SP2 on both comps. WarCraft III runs fine in LAN, as do ReVolt and Need for Speed V and VI. EDIT: Tried Hamachi, didn't help... http://logmeinwiki.com/wiki/Hamachi:Command_and_Conquer_3:_Tiberium_Wars

OK now I'm having another problem. The second PC sees the game, but when I try to join it says "Join failed --- Connection Timed Out". Why does this happen? I'm on a 100Mbit LAN, both PCs are in the same IP range.

Didn't help. Any other ideas? Maybe I need to try Hamachi again...

OK I found the problem. My LAN card's IP was set to manual. I set it to get IP and DNS from my ISP, and then I was able to play LAN games just fine.

Gonna post how to do this, got asked about this... Now, have in mind that I'm on a LAN directly connected to my ISP, in your case that might not be the same. Your computer most probably has a LAN card, either built into the motherboard or PCI, go into the LAN connection properties, then TCP/IP Properties, then see this picture: Here's how it looks with the automatic IP and DNS:

Also, when I last tried to play a CNC3 game with a buddy (not on my second computer, but another computer), it didn't work, we had to use Hamachi and it worked with Hamachi just fine (create a network in Hamachi and let your buddy connect to that network, set the Hamachi IP in the CNC3 game LAN settings).

ok, my setup was like yours already, I guess I'll try hamachi, btw, I'm using KW. You should get it after they finish the patch.

I do have Kane's Wrath. Hmm, first time I played, we were able to play via LAN (we are in the same LAN). Second time, we had to use Hamachi. Now, it won't work even with Hamachi...! Crazy...

Wonder if the router broadcasts to IPs that haven't registered via DHCP. Interesting post Naki...

We were able to get it working. This is a LAN game, so we turned off all other connections, including Hamachi/VMware/Internet connections. (If your Internet connection is of AlwaysOn type, then you might not be able to turn it off - mine is not AlwaysOn.) Then, we joined the same workgroup. And then the CNC3 game was able to work just fine (lists both players, can message each other and play). The guide where I found this is here http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/help/b48863/10977131/p1/?2
