Open Source coders switch to Mac
RESPECTED MEMBERS of the Open Source community are risking excommunication by admitting that they use Mac OSX as a development platform for Unix and Linux according to OS News.
I'm a user/manager, not a developer. Personally I don't like Macs because although they advertise it as being Unix underneath, the eye candy stuff they layer on top interferes with standard Unix-like administration. For example, configuring the network. It won't do to put things directly in the fstab or hosts files, you have to use their special tools to manipulate these properties, or else your efforts get overwritten.
