Looks like Silverstone has released an update to the NT06 cooler.

Looks like they added 2 more heat pipes, increased the TDP to 130wats, but increased the height dimension by ~4mm.

I'm assuming it is still designed to fit in a SG0x case.  Does anyone know about it?

I have one. It fits fine in my SG02-F case. I also have a silverstone power supply, and its fan is positioned well for sucking hot air from the CPU heatsink.

For added cooling, I have installed a thin "hard drive cooler fan" underneath the heatsink blowing up. It is very effective, but I don't think the extra cooling it adds is really that necessary.

what cpu are you on and what temperatures are you seeing Wernst?

That's a little hard to say. I'm using an E8400 (Wolfdale) CPU, and most of the temp sensing software utilities have wildly different readings for this new CPU.

Suffice it to say that the HD cooler subtracts 5 degrees C from the CPU core temp, and under load the most reliable software reader says the cores are running at 55 C. This is actually a lot lower than most other aftermarket CPU coolers are getting with the same software, so I'm actually very happy about it.

i was going to say.

with something like the e8400 there should be little reason to need the new one over the other as those are faily cool chips. i think this will be great for quad core users though. i myself ended up selling both my sugo's as i just didn't like the temperatures the cpu was reacing on the old nt06 and emailed silverstone about a redesign etc..

so yeah, for Q6600 or Q9300 etc, this will be very nice to see. will give added cooling for q6600's and loads of headroom for the newer quads for clocking

Any one reckon this could this handle a G0 Q6600 OCed to 3.0GHz?

Could you give more details on the HDD fans mounted underneath the HSF - eg, parts used and how it was mounted?

I just finished my new build with an NT06-E on a phenom 9850 BE.  Getting idle temps around 45c, load temps are almost hitting 70c though.  That's with a 92mm pwm fan blowing up from underneath, as well as a noctua NF-P12 in my PSU.  I need to fiddle with it some more methinks.  The heatsink itself felt cheap to me, and I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed in it's overall build quality.  Not to mention I practically had to drill out the mounting holes in the copper base since they weren't the right diameter for the provided mounting screws.  Maybe I just got a shit unit, I dunno.

well the nt06-lite used to keep my Q6600 at 70C not sure how the phenom's compare to the Q6600 in heat outputm due to never having a reason to look at any benchmarks

70C at stock, or OCed?

My QX6850 runs at 65 degrees under full load with a whopping great Thermaltake Big Typhoon on it, so 70C overclocked to 3.0GHz or thereabouts would be excellent.

it's a pos. just took mine out for good, didn't cool for shit. switched to an enzotech extreme x and loving life. only had to remove the decorative cowling to get it to fit, no bending required. no fan blowing up, just the psu fan and not going over 66c under full load with an ambient temp around 28c.

chaos, so the Enzotech Extreme-X fits in a SG03 by just taking that black shroud off?  The Enzotech Extreme is taller than the NT06E and I couldn't get the NT06E to fit in my SG03 even with the black shroud removed.  I'm using a SilverStone Strider ST85F PSU.

Take your fan grill off too.  Not like anything's going to be getting in there anywho.  I'm using a corsair psu, but there's no difference in height between mine and yours.  I just removed my fan grill, since I was replacing the fan anyway.  I didn't have to bend my enzotech at all, just threw it in there without the decorative shroud and it fit just fine.  Surprised me too.  My NT06E fit just fine too, had a few mm to spare with it, but that thing is a steaming pile of shit.  Worst waste of $50 this year.

So take off the PSU's fan grill AND the black shroud around the Enzotech Extreme and it'll fit?  Thanks!

I haven't tried it yet.  I have one on the way though.  I took my PSU out and noticed that the grill for its fan is flush with the PSU's case so I don't need to take it off.  I hope I can get this Extreme-X into my SG03 w/o any problems.

Found a nice thread, with pictures, on this forum about the Enzotech in a Sugo SG01e.  If it has has same CPU HSF size restriction as the SG03.

Shows squashing the heatsink down instead of letting the PSU cavity take the extra height.  Wouldn't be too happy trying to do it myself.

I just installed an Extreme-X in my SG03.  All I had to do was take the black shroud off and it fit without any squashing.  It's better than the NT06.  The bottom is actually mirror smooth unlike the NT06 where you can see the machining marks.

Not to mention the quality of the copper used is a great deal better.  Btw, told ya it'd fit Tongue

I'm glad I saw your post chaos.  If not, I'd still be using the not as good NT06.

Here's a picture to show how snug a fit it is.  The Enzotech Extreme-X touches the PSU support bracket that is attached underneath the optical drive cage.

This picture was taken with case lying on its right hand side, and camera viewing from hard drive trays.

Out of interest which axis have people got the copper heatpipes?  Due to the large heatsinks on the DFI Junior P45 motherboard, my heatpipes are going horizontally right.  Only other alignment available is to have them going vertical up, but I wasn't sure if the coolant would pool in the heatsink fins area.

Edit: Image url altered.

Hello!
I'm new to this forum, and pleas have forgivness for my bad english/spelling Wink.

I can't understand how you can fit an bigger (higher) cooler than the NT06-lite.
Look at this picture of my rig, with the NT06-lite:

Here's the EnzoTech Extreme in my SG03 v2.1:

No modifications on anything required.  Fit perfectly.

Oh and I'm not sure if I've posted pics. of my SG03's blowhole mod here so here they are:

Obviously something is wrong here!

My NT06-lite should be 78mm high, and the NT06-E should be 82mm and the
Extreme-X should be 118mm minus the fan ~25mm (1"), that is >90mm.
It shouldn't fit.

I'm aware of that it probebly isn't so difficult to moddify this kind of heatzink
by just pressing/bending the it. The heatpipes is rather soft.

But the measures can't be right,
it shoulden't be this kind of differnts in eather case, moderboard or heatzink.

Swed

P.S.
Don't missunderstand me now, I'm glad that better coolers are able to fit,
The NT06-lite isn't the worlds best cooler, even if it's capable to cool my
Q6600 OC.

I'm just want to now where's the missing is!

There are different revisions of the SG03.  They released a new version when the NT06-E became available.  I have two SG03s.  The box of my first one says v1.0.  This latest one says v1.2.  SilverStone may have done something to the SG03 to allow slightly taller heatsinks to fit.

You'd think so, but mine is a 1.0 and it fits fine.  Go figure.
