What do the Moderators do?

In general:

Moderators generally act as custodians of the Sudhian/SFFTech forums. They remove spam threads, moderate discussions, and step in when members or threads get "out of control."

What things will the Moderators be looking at and taking action on in the forums?

Moderators will, at their discretion, take action to keep the forums free and clear of potty mouth posting, ad hominem (against the person) posting or flaming, thread/forum trolling, and offensive material (including pr0n, non-worksafe material and material inappropriate for our younger members). Moderators will also use their discretion to deal with posts that do not violate any specific rule but are clearly detrimental to other Members or to Sudhian/SFFTech as a whole.

When will the Moderators delete posts or move threads?

There will be some obvious examples where a thread needs to be moderated, particularly threads that contain "advertising" for commercial products (spam), racist language, physical threats, or any behaviors mentioned in the preceding paragraph. Above all else, Moderators will use their discretion to delete and/or edit posts, and will personally PM members with warnings in response to inappropriate behavior.

What is expected of the Moderators?

Moderators will maintain decorum in interacting with site members and will make requests to alter behavior rather than issue threats. In case of personal conflict with site members, Moderators will request the assistance of another Moderator to resolve the situation. In threads where Moderators are participating, a non-participant Moderator will be asked to step in.

The site Admins (Jasper, Babar and Tino) retain the final decision in banning members should Moderators feel they have exhausted their options in maintaining the peace.

What is expected of me (as a member of Sudhian)?

Please refer to the section FAQs, which are posted in every section on Sudhian. They detail the expectations of Sudhian members. Moderators are responsible for enforcing the provisions of said FAQs.

Moderators and Specific Sections

Nearly every section of Sudhian and SFFTech have specific Moderators assigned to them. Those Moderators are responsible for maintaining observation of those sections, checking for spam and violations of forum rules, and enforcing the rules and regulations of Sudhian.

Please note that Sudhian/SFFTech forum rules and regulations are considered firm guidelines, but in extreme circumstances Moderators are allowed to use their discretion to execute their responsibilities as custodians of the Sudhian/SFFTech forums.
