Ok i just got a SG03 with a q6600 and im using the Zalman 8700 to cool that sucka. now my question is should i have the power supply fan facing outside of the case. or inside the case pulling air down onto the fan.
       Thanks in advance,

I always use the PSU fan to pull air out of the case. I don't think I have ever used it to pull air into a case.

SO What will be happening is Zalman pulls air down onto cpu. and then psu blows that hot air out. my only concern was that since the psu fan sits right overtop of the hsf. would it create a battle for air. since one is pulling down and one is pulling up

The PSU should pull the hot air out of the case. This does put a additional strain on the PSU but almost every case is designed to be used in that way.

I see no reason why it will cause any problems however you could try it both ways to see which is the best configuration for yourself.

Better get a PSU with a fan on the back. Those other PSU's do look more sexy but really those traditional PSU (with fan on back) are really silent as wel and no extra heat build up in your case..
To give 1 example: http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3306

Bit pricey though.

I got an Antec NeoHE Power 500w and it's really silent. (€80)
