This is the closest I can find the the PC50 dimensions as I been looking myself, there are companies out there that will attempt to build to spec but I wouldn't imagine the prices would be resonable goto http://www.matrixpower.com.tw/enproduct.htmThe MI - 0.8U series Wattage:150W~350W
Dimension:150x80x40/mm (PWCS29)
Input:85-265Vac full range

That looks like it would fit and they have a 350w version the critical measurements is the 80 and 40 we have some length play room but the 40 and 80 have to be pretty much max. I did a google looking for the Matrix MI350-VA and found a couple of companies that sell it but you have to request a quote to get a price so I do not know how expensive it is.

Well I have my 60x25mm PWM fan on my zalman vnf100 now had to change the fan plug so that I could plug it into the card now even with the fan set at 100% you can not really hear it and leaving it set so that it ramps up with the video card temp my ram temp now averages 42c and my gpu core averages 60c while gpu folding which I am pretty happy with.

found mine here when I arrived home from work, really anxious to put it on but arranged to play some DOW tonight so will probably now wait until the weekend! Still I'm hopeful I see temps such as yours on my GPU as my shuttle generally runs hot (well I'm kinda happy with temps now) but loud! GPU Idle - 61C Load - 91C CPU (A Scythe PWM fan (on BIOS medium speed) as ICE fan replacement and a rear Noctua NF-B9 on full to complete a Push/Pull setup -I've not cut away the grill, although I'm tempted) Using RealTemp averages Idle - 34C Load - 56C I've been considering removing the lower part of the drive tray to allow head room for an alternate CPU cooler but I'm still unsure, skint and a little lazy so I dunno

Well my shuttle has extremely good case air flow from the pair of SanAce 92x32mm fan in a push pull configuration on the ICE with the rear panel honeycomb removed those fans are running at 7vdc they move a lot of air and are reasonably quiet.

Well got around to fitting the VNF100 lastnight, slight concern as one of the plates threads was non-existent for one screw, but still pottered on..
Finally got it in, snuggest fit ever
Left it overnight and switched it on this morning.. Finally the core crept upto 46C idling for about an hour, RAM temps 36C so already a great improvement , and obviously less noise! Even my CPU temps were down a degree or two
Tonight I'll give it a little stress and report back
f5inter2 thanks for this post and ShadowTester for you input
Regards
Daniel

Glad you got it going one thing I have noticed with my vnf100 on my 8800gt the better my case air flow the lower my gpu temps run. The additional 60x25mm PWM fan I have attached to the vfn100 helps but I think case air flow is more important and my case has really good air flow. So with a room ambient temp around 70F and folding with the gpu the core temp has been running 58-62c which is great for the heavy gpu load and hearing other 8800gt folders with stock heat sinks with fans set to 100% having temps in the mid 80c range while folding makes it even nicer.

Actually the MJ -0.8U series is the exact replacement for the shuttle power supplies measurement wise which is available in wattage up to 350w when I contacted BMI about a quote on one of the MJ-350VA power supplies they told me they do not stock that one and that it was not available however they do stock the 300w version which would be the same as the Shuttle PC-50 300w not sure about the wiring connections and may need to work on the mounting however when I check the price its much cheaper to buy the Shuttle PC-50 at $90.00 from Census PC then to purchase the Matrix MJ-300VA from BMI for $160.00 plus shipping.

Strange they advertise the 350W and don't even sell it?! I'm surprised of the price of that 300W, to be honest i thought the PC-50 was expensive but thats just extortionate
Stressed my 8800GT a little more lastnight, 2Hours of play on dawn of war peaked at 54C, 3DMark & HL2 'Video Stress' both peaked at 60C & 20mins on GPU Caps Viewer I was hitting around 76C..
In all I'm really pleased with this cooler, A bit more work on my Shuttles air flow and I'm sure I'll be able to get the overall temps I'm happy with at a reasonable sound level!

liaeb: If you attach a 60mm x 10mm (dunno if 25mm works) but if you attach that 60mm to the cooler it'lll give you a bigger temp drop. Anyways Liaeb if you get a chance post some pictures. Once i get my stupid thermaltake psu i'll upload more pictures (freaking PSU is taking more than 4 weeks calling NCIX those bitches.... www.ncix.com)

A 60x25mm will fit but you have to mount it tight to to the mother board and right up tight to the ICE fan shroud or it will not clear the drive bracket.

Glad I found this thread. I was about to go out and buy the 9800GT from NewEgg. I think I'll go for this same set up with the 8800GT and the passive cooler and a 60x10 mm fan. I know Shadowtester has been pushing his SG33G5 to the limits with extra power supplies but I'm going to try to stay clear of that route. I'm not as brave.
I noticed the 8800GT card used here only had 256MB. Anyone get it to work properly with 512MB and only the stock power supply or should I pick up the 300 watt one from Shuttle?

I'm using a 512MB 8800GT with this cooler, although my stock PSU is already 300W

Hi, new here =) This particular 'mod' caught my eye, as I'm thinking of emulating the same sort of set up for a quiet shuttle SFF. I was searching up the VNF100 and it doesn't seem the 8800GT is 'officially' supported on the Zalman home page? ( http://www.zalman.co.kr/Eng/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=147) Also as a general question, do many shuttle cases share the same dimensions, or would i have to look at the suitability of various 3rd party VGA cooling for each different shuttle case? Cheers!

The last couple of letters in the Shuttles model # indicate the case such as G5, G2, or P2 for examples. However the layouts can very from one Shuttle model to another remember you are working in a small form factor case and space is at a premium so best bet would be to measure prior to buying a aftermarket cooling device to make sure it would fit your application. The VNF100 just clears the drive cage on the SG33G5. The VNF100 does fit on the 8800gt even though its not officially supported I think that is due to the fact the VNF100 only has 3 heat pipes and without a fan it may not be able to handle the heat load while the card is under heavy stress.

I would agree this cooler does struggle on the 8800GT without the additional fan... I was running it completely passive for a while but found it slowly accumulates heat and creeps up on excess of 100c but with the additional fan, (I've used a 60x10mm evercool fan running at 2000rpm in a very similar way to f5inter2) it performs far superior than most stock coolers! I haven't seen my 8800GT go over 76c since.

I modified mine to use a 60x25mm PWM fan which can be controlled by the card and while folding using the F@H GPU2 client in a room with a ambient at about 63-65F the card hangs around 50-54c while folding 24/7 which is very good with the fan set to 100%. If I use a fan profile I can keep temps below 65c and the fan can not be heard over the cpu fans which are San Ace 92x38 in a push pull setup running at 5vdc.

I used this cooler passively (without the fan) on a 8600GT, the CPU cooler was all the system needed to stay cool. Now I have an 9600 GSO which basically is an 8800GT. The same cooler but it needs a fan. Mine got up to 114°C (not °F !!) in idle, not doing anything ! I mounted a 60x25mm fan and it idles at 55°C, load is about 60°C. That's the problem with the 9600GSO, or atleast mine: it doesn't downclock anything in idle mode. Anyway, I'm going to look for a PWM fan too, this fan is making me crazy...

well not quite a 8800gt (smaller mem bus and slower clock speeds) so the 4pin header on the nvidia cards is definatly PWM then? I'm sure I read somewhere it wasn't?!

On my PNY 8800GT it was a PWM just has a different connector smaller than the standard PWM fan connector I am using a 60x25mm PWM fan to cool my 8800gt being controlled by the connector on the 8800gt.

The 4 pins mean something, just to power a fan requires only 2 pins. Anyway, I didn't mean that I'm connecting it to the card but rather to the motherboard. It isn't the same as an 8800GT but it's certainly equally fast and uses a little less power I believe.

I have the same as you Phuncz, iv'e connected it to the mobo header running at a constant speed.. would be nice to have it speed controlled via the card tho.. make it that little bit quieter when it needs it!
what fan you using Shadow?

This is my 9600 GSO card: I enlarged the part of the fan connector. As you can see, it is 4 wires: green, yellow, red and black. Most cheap 8800GS/9600GSO cards indeed only have 2 wires. But it is very hard to find information on this specific card as most of the 9600 GSO's shipped from POV are the 384MB or 512MB versions with the reference cooler. I removed the fan from the heatsink which has an acronym (hard to read: MXS, NXS or YXS) and a manufacturing date. I removed the sticker and the 4 wires go to a small PCB inside the fan housing which also has a 4-pin chip on the other end. So that's got to be a controlled fan, no need for a chip and 4 wires except for controlling it. I also remember it being louder when I was gaming but still pretty silent.
