Ah, you got me. I guess I just really appreciate TF2's cartoony styling and gameplay and that, in my mind, really sets it apart from other Source games- realism be damned!

My L4D aversion might have to do with all the zombiemod I played in CS:S. Bleh, the hours I put into that...

OK I did another update to the PC & console games in both PT 1 and PT 2 Keep in mind they are only about 99% accurate for reasons beyond my control.

Update on L4D.

Definitely better with real players. There's a (relatively) new mode called Survival that places you right at the final standoff. The game allows you to plan out your defense (pipe bombs, molotovs, jerry cans etc). It's good because it doesn't immediately start the horde until you flip the start button. After that random waves come at you, sometimes with specials, sometimes without. A tank might appear 3 waves in a row, or it may never make an appearance.

There's no real good end win scenario, because eventually you'll run out of pipebombs, or the game decides to create 3 waves of specials, or your team accidentally sets off the carefully laid trap to early. Once you get over this, the fun becomes more involved in the preparation (which can also happen both in game and out).

I have Valkyria Chronicles which I'm going to check out this weekend, I'll update when I've played enough. What I can do today is Sonic Unleashed for PS3. (Feel free to slowpoke me, sorry).

I'm still hanging out for the perfect Sonic game. This is not it, but it certainly gets closer than the last rendition. The thing that kills it is obviously the warehog. I give points to Sega for not trying to introduce another character to play said warehog, but I take them away again as soon as I realise that, yes, there is another character, and he's only slightly less annoying than Tails.

The running through towns between levels is pure filler. It wastes time, almost RPG like where it forces you to run from one section to another. I know, the story demands player participation. But I'm reminded by the original Sonic games back on the great Mega Drive. Especially Sonic and Knuckes, and to some extent even the Rush series on the DS. The story took a back seat to the actual game play. In S&K, you could almost completely forget that there was even a story, only minimally bringing it back into focus with only short, in game cutscenes, no long speeches, no back story, just 'Oh shit, here's Robotnik, he's got another machine, let's break it!'

Do I have anything good to say about the game? Yes. Daylight, as Sonic, running as fast as you can through the levels, with small penalties for not being 110% cool, this is the Sonic I remembered. The controls are pretty good, the speed of which you run through the levels is blazing and brilliant, the length of the courses superb. There's even sections where the game slows down while it asks you to press a 3 button combo. Complete it, and send yourself down a different path to a better score. Miss, and you won't die, you just won't get the highest score. If you fall down, chances are you won't fall down a massive hole, lose a life and start over. If you picked the high path, you'll probably just fall down to the lower path and lose the chance of the high score.

The night levels. I can appreciate the trying to create value for money. If anything I have two reasons for playing these.
1. The game forces me to.
2. The XP from the defeated creatures allows you to power up either Hedgehog or Werehog. (you don't have to be stuck).

But it's horrible. You can win by button bashing. The platforming is nothing like the Daylight levels where it almost does it for you. It's finicky like the last Sonic, and that alone is enough hate it.

As low as the odds are somebody from Sonic Team reads this (or gets spidered by Google), I offer the following:

I would pay double what I paid ($40) for a game that focussed purely on the Daylight levels. Make more of them, make them longer if you want, make them more complex, I don't care. If you really feel the urge to 'bring value to the customer' put in the Werehog levels in, or that crazy Chao mess from the Adventure series. Just don't force people to play through them; make it an incentive, not a requirement.

It is really very informative and also innovative post. I like it. He is covered all the game strategy and also hard core level. I have referred daylight couple of days ago. But It seems to be very hard to finish each level. I like the sound which had been played very vocal and also horrible sound. I want know more epic key which will be help me for this game.

I’m still paying off “Spore” Sad

Actually I think my next game will probly be “Force Unleashed” for Wii, which will mark my 3rd Wii game ever purchased. (RE4 and then Rayman: Raving Rabbids 1 were the other two...)

I've made it a sticky again, although you can do that yourself now if you think a thread should be one  Wink

It's not out yet in the US.

- It got very poor performance, even with a very good machine.
- Many bugs (like SLI not working, etc etc)
- It's just not finished, and needs lots of work.
- Multiplayer ain't working
- poor sounds

That said, they will patch it soon and keep patching it so maybe it will be become good, but right now, it's almost not playable.

Some can play it though and make a nice video like this 1: http://vimeo.com/21823687

So it does got potential.
