I've purchases several motherboards from Commell before and ran into issues where the motherboard would fail for no reason. I've sent some back for RMA work and the components they've replaced are not consistent with the failure symptom.

The failure is that the motherboard would not POST. Often times I would see the CPU fan turn on but that is about it. Nothing else would occur.

I've contacted tech support and they claim to have not seen this problem or heard of these but I know for sure I've sent them at least 5 motherboards with the same symptom (again, they replaced inconsistent components so it's hard to say what the root cause is).

These problems I've seen across LV-673 and LV-677 (both I am using a DC power supply with enough power). I've recently discovered that the 673 and 677 were build or came to market long ago (3 years?) and I'm afraid I will see the same problem with the LV-67B (introduced maybe 6 months back?)

Has anyone else experienced such problem or even that the BIOS would reset itself and the CMOS battery is still fully charged?

Any comments/suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I had similar problem with an LV-673 purchased in 2005.  I had to RMA it twice when it was new, both times commell replaced the south bridge.  It has run fine since the second repair.

You might be able to save some money by getting the MSI IM-GM45.  It doesn't have PCIexpress x16 but it does have DVI-D on the back panel.

I had some problems with LV-671 boards. After about 3 years, the on-board battery was dead, so it lost all the BIOS settings. This was a PITA since it wouldn't boot properly with the default settings. And the on-board batter was soldered on, so I couldn't replace it simply. I think they use a replacable battery in newer boards.
