Just joined, worth putting Folding on HTPC too?

If I wanted to put folding@home on my htpc (dual core amd 5000 or something with 2gb ram and ati x1300) what would I need to put the processor usage at so it stops working any time we are using vista media center, 80%?
On my shuttle I have it set to 99% and I don't want it to make my tv performance get worse

Would the x1300 run the gpu2 version?

So, Welcome!!!....  My problem is that I don't know the answer to your question.  That is probably why no one else answered.  We all sit there and say Duhhh...
but forget to say hello.

After many years of doing this..."folding",  I have gone to sort of a lazy mans routine where, when I am running a GPU client and want to use the Video card
for what it was intended, I right click on the folding icon in the systray and then click on "Pause work."  When I am finished with the business at hand, if
I remember, I go back to that systray icon, right click it and click on "Resume work."

Your question asks for something a bit more automatic, which is beyond the scope of my understanding.  With patience, possibly a smart guy will come along.
In the mean time, please feel welcome here.  The number of folders are decreasing lately.  Where are you...other guys?

I am pretty sure the ati x1300 is not supported with the new gpu2 client and as for cpu usage on the standard client with the amd dual core honestly I do not know what to tell you as I have only run intel core2 duos and quads with smp clients on machines. On my NAS which uses a laptop c2d I have not really had any problems running the smp client on idle priority it really has not effected the performance of its bit torrent client, squeezecenter server, or Network File sharing duties however I am not trying to use it for playing video which might be a larger drain on the resources. And sorry I had not replied or welcomed you either but I have not visited the forums much lately and when I did see your question I really did not know what to tell you as an answer I hoped another member would be able to answer your questions better than myself.

If you just set the client to the lowest priority, it will automatically decrease when another more important application needs the processing power. I used to do this fine for many years on a old XP2500+ never had any problems with any other application slowing down. An most of the time I did'nt realise F@H was even running in the background. At least that was the case with the CPU client.

Thanks, I'll just install the CPU version, set it to only use 80% of the CPU or something and hope it doesn't affect my VMC recordings.

Another question...  Should I be seeing more points per day?  I was having a problem with the GPU not running so I uninstalled and reinstalled, it has been fine the last 3 days since.

How many points per day should I expect from the PC in my sig?

That really depends on your computer and the projects you get and how much cpu clock cycles F@H gets to use. On my shuttle with a E8400 Core2 Duo running at 3.6ghz running 1 smp client and also feeding 1 gpu client depending on what project and if its a a1 core or a2 core project my ppd can be anywhere from 1500ppd to 3200ppd.
