Hi all,

After being much inspired by all the modders of this forum, here's what I came up with.
I may not be into looks, led and sleeving or what not, but I think I got something pretty functional.
Since I didn't keep a worklog, I really can't be bothered with desciptions, and all, but if you have any questions, requests, I'll be glad to answer.

Excellent hardware.  I've got the same board and love it, with the exception of some northbridge heat issues.  The real question is, what are the temps like?

Hey, nice to see someone as high profile as you might drop by Wink

Temps @ stock, room temp 24°
50° idle, 66 load. Temps drop to 55 with fans on full blast haha.
NB runs hot, 64° idle, 75° + on load.

No stability issues though.

I still have to see what the temps exactly are when OC'ed, i've only just configured the BigNG profile for stock speeds, I'll look into some OC profiling when I get the time, but it seems running at 3.8 was no problem, temps were risiing around 80 with still no stability issues.

I was thinking at first of removing the asus heatpipe thingy to get a proper NB waterblock and a bigger mosfet radpipe from thermaltake, but I just got too excited and went the easy way.
Maybe later, if I get the patience to disassemble it all, I'll put some ceramic under the NB+mosfets sinks, realise it's still not enough, and get the real job done.

Anyway, I'd be happy to have any feedback on such an endeavour.

PS: edited configuration on previous post for more detail.

I'm impressed.  Those are really pretty respectable temps considering your cooling the northbridge and i7 with minimal radiator surface area.  I'm not sure removing the complete heatpipe assembly will lower temps much.  Honestly, as long as your NB doesn't get above 75 C, you'll not have any issues.  The system will shut down at 100 C, and believe it or not, I've had it that hot an a few different occasions.

Well, I still need to test the machine with OCCT for 12+ hours to see how the heat builds up. Because it does !
Using a pull-push configuration with such radiators is required to get decent temps, a single fan really doesn't do.

I fear when oc'ed the northbridge temp will rise dramatically though.

I noticed the cover is slightly bent upwards when assembled, so the top GPU fans blowing the air out are leaking into the case. Putting a pile of books on top has dropped my PSU temps by 5°, so I'll look into putting so sort of joint along the steel "rail/PSU holder", that should do the trick.

I had modded an SG01-F in the same configuration at first, and I have to admit, there is no comparison in the quality, slickness, and ease of assembly between the SG01-F and the SG01-E.
"E" wins hands down, modding wise.

Just a few HDD benchmarks :

Pretty nice mod. I had this case in the past, but never got to wtercooling it. Looks cool.
IS that NB really that hot? I wonder why.... I'm going to buy this mobo and looks like I'm gonna have to cool it with that block...

Hi,
@Phinix : Sorry to reply so late, didn't get the notification mail, apparently...

Well, yes, the northbridge does run THAT hot. I'd recommend not using the EK Asus NB HP, and remove the whole heatpipe system, replacing the mosfets rad by one from Thermalright.

@gwhzz35: Well, these panels actually came with the case itself, so if you want the exact same, you're off buying one new like here:
http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Cases/Silverstone/SST-SG01-Series/Silverstone-SST-SG01S-W-Sugo-Window-silver::10353.html

Otherwise I'll be soon replacing them panels for some mesh aluminum, so maybe I could ship them to you.
Thing is, I'm in France, and they have some marker ink all over by now...
