Construction of a ATX cabinet!

When the time has come for a new cabinet. Enclosure will be built from scratch and look to be a fairly common tower, but with a somewhat spessiel front. In front will be mounted two 120mm fans and the pattern you see in the sketch above shall spit out. Inside I will divide the cabinet into two chambers. In the bottom will be the power supply and hard drives and put in the upper chamber will you find the rest of the parts. As the distinction between the chamber should I try to create an arc that you can see in the picture below. A window will be placed in one side door.
External dimensions of the box is: 56 x 54 x 24.5 cm

I have taken MFD disc and got cut up most of the plates. Have used the 16mm thick plates and screws 3mm, MDF'en tend to stretch so it is important to drilling in the disc before it will screw it up.




Plates I had was to big for that Climb saga was too little, when I had to jack up the saga:




This lowered the screws:




Here is the first wall ready to be tightened:






Now the front and bakplate in place:

Then it was time for a new update, have been cut to the motherboard tray. And the driver to think out a smart solution for hiding the cables under the motherboard tray. Will have at least possible with cables visible.

Used the Dremel and file to get a finer result:

The second is on the program now is cutting the backplate and solutions for cable pulling.

Update 3:


Now, I've been cutting holes for motherboard tray and PSU'en. But missing some Scrub even before I'm satisfied: wee:

Have also been made four round cabinet feet, but has not been refurbished yet these either. It is made in the course of the weekend I think:)

To create cabinet feet I used a hole-saw at 55mm:

nahhhhhhhhhh mate (ot#'s stupid easy to work with, but looks generally naff, brushed alu ftw! (not sure what you'll be doing wiht your wood so i'll keep watching this, my wooden case had laminated sides, so looked almost "professional")

Update 4:

As you saw in the previous update, I have cut out four rounds of cabinet feet, now is the polished finish


The first thing I did was to attach all the feet of a bolt and mounted it on the drill:






I took the polish paper (P150) in hand and started the machine, is the result:






After that I took and polished edge that will stand on the table, so that it was round and nice:




Should have cleaned several parts of the cabinet for the weekend, so stay tuned!

Update 6:


After a long pause on the project and updates I'm going with a new update now. Has mount motherboard tray.

Update 8:

Have been working on with the front now, the overall profile of the second plate and arranged holes for the fan. Had to cheat a little by inserting a thin plywood plate behind the hole. It was difficult to spit out the profile of the car, then took to sawing out the hole with a jigsaw first, and then made round edges with a cutter.


End chat, here are some pictures:)


The first thing that was done was to cut out the hole with a jigsaw:




In the back I attached a plywood plate, so that not only is a hole there, but the mounting of the fan:




Drill holes for the fans:



 
Used the cutter to make round edges, just like on the second disc:




Here I have constructed both records:






And here I tried with only one disc in fornt:

Update # 10 -     Middle plate and the construction of 5 1 / 4 "bay

Now I finally have built some of the cabinet again

What has been done is mounted middle plate and made a 5 1 / 4 "bay in the top. Made a plate behind this bay'en to hide the cables as much as possible.

Update: The design of the front!


In recent days I have been doing the front, is not so much that remains there now, so hope to be finished during the week.

Have hidden fan control and made a hole on the tray on the DVD burner. Power button is also in place:)

Fan Control, I have hidden in the front, so that only the buttons appear. Did a little test first to see how it was:








In place of the faceplate:




Regretted a bit that I cut out the hole to 5 1 / 4 "bayen in front, then took the team to a record as I plugged the hole with:




There, I have now made a hole to the DVD tray and mounted the fan control:






Gets a little filler and sanding around the new disc, to get a good result:




Have also been installed in 5 DVD burners 1 / 4 "bayen:




In addition, to this I have lowered the one grill a little down in the plate:
