I have no problem with limiting the amount of text formatting options. I have to agree to many can annoy me at times aswell. I have removed some of the formatting options, if you know the code to type to enable them they still exist. However the link to do it quickly has been removed. I will possibly change it so you can't do it if you type it if people start to do similar.

Although as you have seen the other theme now, what do you think? I still think that the default theme has one strange element, the white text on light gray background (displayed in my screenshot above). Hopefully that will be changed to something readable before launch. The other theme has much more readable colors at the same place. I agree, however I'll leave it for the person who made the theme to make the required changes. As it will require modifying a few other pages aswell.

Have you tried the non-default themes? If so noticed any issues with those? Where can I test the themes? I do not even find the correct place in the settings... :-(

Only oddity and the one you were viewing have been modified mind. The other one is the SMF default, and one that needs to be modified.

I take it you have not had any major issues?
Does it feel faster than this current software?
I appreciate your input btw.
Feedback is always welcome.

Thanks, I found it. The link to "change" is so similar to the other ordinary text, that I did not even notice it. (and of course, that link does not work for me, as it has your/testuser's userid...) So that is maybe another idea for modification: having a hyperlink in the same color as text is maybe classy, but there is the risk that nobody notices the link. (In the "oddity" theme links are blue while text is gray, so the link is more visible.) I take it you have not had any major issues? Does it feel faster than this current software? No major issues. Can't really says if it faster, but at least it is not slow. :-)

I had meant to remove all the blue formatting that was there previously. If its the page I think it is then its not showing as blue on my screen. I'll look at making an hyperlink stand out more, would making it a slightly darker shade help?

In "SMF default Core" there is also underlining coming active when there is mouseover. You might consider bolding or underlining, but a different color would probably be the best way to highlight the fact that there is a link. Both Forum default and Oddity seem to be tailored toward minimalistic and subtle effects in outlook, which is classy, but can be a difficult to use, if links are hidden etc.

I have changed it slightly so its now black, and when you hover over it an underline appears and it goes bold.

I have changed it slightly so its now black, and when you hover over it an underline appears and it goes bold. I see black in Oddity theme on the theme setup page, but links still look gray to me in normal messages. As the "forum default" theme does not even cause the underlining to happen, the links are hidden really well. Hopefully you can get the designer to put a bit more clear signs for links there. Example: http://www.sudhian.com/sudhiantestforum/index.php/topic,107371.msg939883.html#msg939883

I noticed that aswell, unfortunately the style sheet uses the same for those links as it does for those you posted.
Currently trying to find a different colour that fits in with the entire theme. I might rewrite it so I can use different colours depending on what the outcome is.

Hnyman, thanks for bringing the text color thing to my attention, completely did not notice that. It should be fixed now, let me know if you see any other problems or usability issues.

let me know if you see any other problems or usability issues. Well, I still hate the really good hiding of the hyperlinks. There should be either a differing color or an underlining visible already before mouse hover. See the example linked in my previous message:

I changed the color of the links to the red color that is used throughout the theme. See if you like that better.

Any timetable on the change? There have been no new comments in almost 2 weeks.

We have purchased a new server and are testing the performance of the new software on the new server. When we have all the bugs worked out we'll make an announcement and set a date for the switch.
In the meantime, keep your thoughts and suggestions coming!

This is what i see, really not very pretty or friendly. I assume you mean the date being in epoc time and not human time hugh? I'm working on that, although I have been working on that for a while now with no suitable solution.

The changeover to the new system seems to have cleared user settings... Timezone was zeroed and signature emptied (luckily Google cache helped to return the old signature) Uploading avatars is still disabled? An Error Has Occurred! The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved. EDIT: ...and it seems that you left the theme unmodified. there is still the awful "white on light gray" here: http://www.sudhian.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=76010;sa=showPosts
