Sorted the avatar issue, it was pointing to the old server.

I'll look into that white on grey again.

Avatar works now. Great.

In addition to the "recent posts of a member", the white on gray is also on some message boxes. see the attachment.

The changeover to the new system seems to have cleared user settings...
Timezone was zeroed and signature emptied (luckily Google cache helped to return the old signature)

Uploading avatars is still disabled?

That was me whilst I was editing the theme. So it should be back to how it was before now.

Looks ok now.  Smiley

New forum software and new layout always cause minor quirks, but hopefully they are found and fixed quickly. Looks good so far.

They should be throughly tested before hand tho by the person that created the theme / layout....

Thanks for all your help so far.

I'm also happy that so far they are only 'minor' quirks.

One minor wish: you/somebody might do some SQL work and insert the "join dates" for the old-school users. The join dates were empty already for some time, but this forum change might be a good time to fix it.

The join dates are empty for users registered before the last major upheaval here.
Looks like dates are empty for everybody joined before 2006-04-10...
(The oldest user with a join date: http://www.sudhian.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=82783 )

You might do an SQL query for the oldest message of each user with UID below 82783 and insert that date as the join date for the old users for those who have written messages.

For example,
my oldest message is from 2005-03-29: http://www.sudhian.com/forums/index.php?topic=74731.msg606491#msg606491
and yours is from 2004-09-29: http://www.sudhian.com/forums/index.php?topic=65731.msg508463#msg508463

(In the old forum that date was shown more prominently in each message, but now it looks like it is only shown in the profile info of the users.)

I hadn't thought of doing that! Its actually a really sensible idea for something that has been bugging me for a while.

I have also turned it off for showing on the message page for the very reason its not displayed for some users.

hnyman, sorry but that won't work. For example, I joined in 2001, but the forum has switched hosting several times, and I think there is only posts back to about the year 2004/2005 - all earlier posts are not there.
EDIT: Hmm, I tried now, might still work. I am pretty sure I joined in August 2001, and there are posts only from December, but it pretty close!
Maybe you should do this then!

EDIT: I don't wanna be Ace - can't I be Power User only? Was that in old forum??

I know, but in my mind having the date of your oldest preserved message there would be better than nothing.

Preserved history goes back to at least until September 2004...
...from year 2011 perspective it is a rather moot point if you have been here 10 years or 7 years, compared to the 2-day newcomers.

I don't think this software allows you to be one or the other, actually I'm almost certain it doesn't.

We have posts going back to 2001, which is well before the first forum move.

I'm working on a script to do this in batches as it locks the database up for well over a hour due to the amount of posts we have and the rather complex table joins required.

Links still don't stand out, at least with my color scheme. Please fix!
Link should be a different color from text.
Test link: www.google.com

What happened to email notification? Will it be back soon?

I've passed it on to the theme designer.

They will look at it in due course naki.

Thanks!
The email notifications from Sudhian include the poster's name now, yay!!! (Last was like this in 2006 - it's back now.)

EDIT: Hmm, could you please increase the signature characters allowed? It is 200 now and I found that I can't put my old signature back, please make it 250 or at least 220 chars. Also, are all signatures from the old forums lost??

Another thing, is there a way to set the number of threads I see in a forum section, and the number of posts per page when viewing a thread? If not, this is going backwards - I think the old forum had those settings!

There is however it is disabled as it has a negative effect on the performance of the site, it basically increases the load and therefore the response times to unacceptable levels.

I'll increase the signature size to 250 characters shortly.

Hmm, it seems this new software allows one to change the Nickname. Is that so? It seems it wants be to enter my password again, but then it just goes back to the same page. Is this a bug or intended? Should we be able to set our nicknames, or not? I just wanna change from naki to Naki.
