Reply/Modify in the body of the posting look bad, they look like simple text with no separators.
Please add seprators (a line) and/or make them look like buttons instead of plain text.

(The options BELOW the body of the postings are OK - they have separators.)

We have posts going back to 2001, which is well before the first forum move.

I'm working on a script to do this in batches as it locks the database up for well over a hour due to the amount of posts we have and the rather complex table joins required.
Any progress there with the "join dates"?

If you want to decrease workload, just first pick those old users who have posted a message during last 3 years. Getting the dates to regulars is more important than getting the date to some ancient one-time-visitor who has not been active for years.

I've pruned all those members anyway. Well those with no posts.

I'll work on a script to do whats required however its a complex join due to the database structures and I need to work out the most efficient way to do it.

Also I do have a full time job, an I'm not paid for this so it will be done as soon as I possibly can.

Another thing, is there a way to set the number of threads I see in a forum section, and the number of posts per page when viewing a thread? If not, this is going backwards - I think the old forum had those settings!

I have now allowed users to select how many topics and how many posts are displayed per page.

Hmm, max post length is 20000 chars now, cool! I think it was 5000 or 6K before...

EDIT: I don't wanna be Ace - can't I be Power User only? Was that in old forum??

I have modified the code so that its not displayed if you have a custom title set.

Also made some improvements to the parsing of the pages so they should load quicker.

users.edpnet.be/phunc/sudhian.jpg (must put http : / / in front of it)

That's all I see  Cry

I've actually been on this forum for quite some time but a lot of my posts were deleted I guess. I've been away for a few years because I didn't have my shuttle anymore...

Hi,

Thats due to spammers signing up to the forums and then modifying their profiles.

So I blocked that option for all users with under 25 posts.

I can make any changes you require before you reach that amount, if you would like to PM me i'll make the required amendments.

I believe your other login was phunc without the z, in which case the posts still exist. None have been lost since 2001 ish

Ah that is also possible ! I've used that name for only a very short while because it was used a lot online and thus taken most of the time.

Glad to hear it. It has taken a lot of work to get it to this level.

Although I'm happy with the performance considering the hardware we are currently on is less than what we were on previously.

If you notice any bugs or have any suggestions on improvements feel free to either PM me or post in this thread. Smiley

Babar actually contacted me quite awhile back when you were still getting things up and running for suggestions.

Ill definitely contact you if I spot anything or have suggestions.

The speed onsite could still be better but its comfortable at this point and allows quick posting and reading a number of threads without too many  issues.

I don't disagree that it could be improved, however that would require a hardware increase rather than software improvements.
