VIA releases a dual-core 1.6GHz EPIA board

LOW POWER CHIP DESIGNER VIA has launched its first mini-ITX motherboard to feature the firm's Nano X2-E dual core chip.
VIA's EPIA-M900 mini-ITX motherboard mounts a dual core 1.6GHz Nano X2-E chip and is supported by VIA's VX900 "media system processor", or Northbridge with an embedded graphics chip to everyone else.

VIA led the way into Mini-ITX, but I have to suspect this will not be competitive with Atom, Brazos and Sandy Bridge offerings.

VIA didn't show any really new technologies the past five years, so I'm not surprised. That they still exist baffles me.

Via is doing pretty well with a variety of integrated chip products and targeted platforms for commercial and consumer use.

You dont hear much because alot of their business is in the far east where their inexpensive products sell very well.

Ah that is perfectly possible, yes. I used to own motherboards with Via chipsets but it has been a long time since they have produced something interesting for the consumer market. But if they are doing well on the professional market, that explains a lot ofcourse.

Not just the professional market but as integrated parts used on many motherboards and being sold as low end systems in the far east and third world countries.
