I havent upgraded in some time so Im still using my Geforce GT 240 but I also prefer 1280x1024 so performance is quite good.

Have many of you upgraded or have you tried to hang on to your present hardware?

I'm using a x800 AGP graphics Card I believe. I was previously using a 6800GT for well over 5 years until the fan died. Other than that it was still more than good enough for my needs.

X800 is a great card as I still use the X800 pro and X800GTO 2 in my older gaming systems.

Generally I preferred the Radeons in my agp systems.

I've just bought a new one, a Radeon HD 6870. Very happy with it, although I've seen the display driver crash more than once. But it may also be my failing hard drive...

Just curious are you using proprietary drivers vs third party drivers?

I still run a Geforce GT 130 on my other pc and it hasnt been an issue.
I dont run above 1280x1024 with medium detail most of the time so I dont need a great card.

Im still running a 19"LCD as its alot easier when you go from newer to older games.
I prefer the aspect of the standard monitor overall so it makes it that much easier to use mainstream cards for gaming and save some cash.

I couldn't move away from my 24" screen, with two 19" screens either side. Its just so useful to have all that real estate.

I also still use my 4850, love it but my PC is no longer my main computer. I use a Macbook now that has a 9400M in it. Kinda slow.

My wife had to do a switch to Mac cold turkey because of a new job a few years back and I was impressed how well she did even though she still prefers Windows.

Same reason here, my switch to Mac is entirely because of work.

Hate the weak 9400M graphics but fortunately because I don't game, the sting is lessened somewhat, but I also notice that graphics performance elsewhere really suffers.

Just the original AMD's Catalyst 10.6 drivers at the moment.

You have used the Omega drivers a long time , toyed with trying them but hate to change anything as long as I'm not having issues

Thats the thing,Ive had less issue with omega drivers versus Amds releases.

They are supported by Amd and typically Omega drivers dont perform as well as they are more stable overall.

They all install over one another easily and few issues changing drivers when needed.

I cant ever remember having any problem with AMD/ATi driver but I know others did have , I usually don't update my drivers unless I am having a issue or problem. If it not broke leave it alone I say. Updates are great if they are needed and can improve or enhance performance but rule of thumb I done do a lot of driver updating.
