Hi everyone,

This is a simple ( although that could be subjective ) question on how we ( well I .... ) could improve the new Sudhian from your user perspective.

i.e. what features would be nice in the new boards, is there anything missing? Could anything be tweaked slightly?

Also how could we improve Sudhian in general? Obviously unique content is a must as is a better news feed....

Been thinking on this sense you posted it tino , we could do some testing with a few things as far as content but like anything new it wont happen over night . Sudian was based on the Shuttle to start if I'm correct , but with mobile devises replacing standard PC's younger people are using regular computers less and thus looking for fewer answers in forms these days as is the same problem with consoles for gaming vs. computers

tino,

The New Sudhian suits me fine.  I like how you added the "Join Date" under the user name.
I don't think it was there back when I visited the site back in October.

I do have one question: Who are all those members that are shown in the members list as
joining on December 31, 1969?  The first PC didn't even come on the market 'til about 1982,
and what became the Internet was still the military's ARPANET.

It seems like there are fewer of us "computer geeks" out there who are interested in more
than just texting, using FaceBook, etc.  If you want more site activity, perhaps you could
get PC World and PC Magazine to do a short article on Sudhian, or even just send them a
letter-to-the-editor stearing some of the readers to the Sudhian site.

Keep up the good work. Cool

The users with 1969 are due to them being part of Sudhian before it became Sudhian. Back in the old Via Hardware days basically, the previous admin didn't do a good job porting the posts or user data over correctly, hence why the Joined dates were not around in the old forum software. As I don't have a first post they use the system epoc time, which as we are running Linux is December 31st 1969 at 23:59:59.

That makes sense.  Thanks for the explanation.  I was surprised to see nearly 46% of the members
shown on the list are from back in those days before Dec. 2001.  Those were the good old "hands-on"
days when there were computer hardware/software stores everywhere.  In Cincinnati, we're now down
to basically one good computer store.  That says something about how fewer active technical "geeks"
we have left today.

In browsing the archieved posts and topics, I was surprised to see Sudian still has all of the posts
everyone submitted on all those topics spanning more than nine years.  That's a valuable resource.
Sudian does a remarkable docomentation job. Cool

Unfortunately the only thing that it has in its favour now is the fact it still has so much 'useful' content.

Maybe a pricewatch?

In this case only for the US, since international is too hard, but just some feature, that people will use regulary.

Just an example (dutch version):
http://nl.hardware.info/prijsvergelijker/

Type in a product and it will show the cheapest prices&reviews etc... I know this isn't easy though.

Anyways hardware.info is a pretty good site, maybe someone could get some ideas when looking at that (just just google translate when using chrome).

And maybe also (also on that site) product reviews from users which they can make fairly easy..

It's not something is really wrong with sudhian, the main Q remains, how to get new users mainly.

In my case I was interested in shuttle, which was the reason I got here. Maybe just some new product reviews, and when it looked up fast by google (on top), you could get new users not that hard, I think/hope..

Pretty much trying to figure a way to spark new interest in the site is the bottom line , we have talk about the need for new articles for the front page and some reviews but we lack anyone with the skills to do that or the time.

True, you seem to be about the most busy one over here trying.

Kinda hard it is, for sure.

I do like your idea about the price watch , I have seen that in a couple of form areas . Diffidently something to consider , we have bounce some ideas around but right now trying to get enough involvement to move on any one of them has been a problem . Tino and Barber spent many hours moving and changing the site which added many improvements .  So now we are faced with how to make all that work pay off.
