Microsoft announced that its going to ramp up its retail stores both here and internationally Im assuming to try and create something similiar to what Apple has done.

The question is, is this the right move?

Never know about big corp. when they decide to do something like this , with MS I would also wonder why . One thing for sure money and profit motivates them.

probably want to increase exposure to their products. they'll have the best and greatest PCs on display there, and their stores will be very close to the apple stores, so they're hoping to draw traffic away.

Theyve got alot of work to do marketing wise to get to that point.

Even Apple had some issue with their stores and the bottomline and had to go thru a restructuring at one point.

They may be thinking if they move now and by the grace of God the economy has a sudden turn around they would be in place to capitalize on it

I thought Microsoft was pushing more for some type of online sales model for their software products and made deals with vendors to seel their Windows based products.
