This according to Toms Hardware site news for those of you interested

Quote
Activision's official blogger, Dan "One of Swords" Amrich, reports that the beta of Call of Duty Elite will take place this summer. Previous reports indicated that the beta for the PC version wouldn't launch until the fall, but he clarified any confusion by stating that console owners can get an early glimpse this summer via the beta, but PC gamers will have to wait until the service goes live on November 8.

"There’s still time to sign up for the Call of Duty Elite beta yourself. PC players will have to wait until Elite’s November launch to try it out, but if you’re a 360 or PS3 owner, you can still get involved this summer," he said. "Check out the official FAQ for more questions. I have some ..............

So the one feature PC gamers can do on the PC and console gamers can't on their console, is more important to console players according to Activision...

One posters comment got may attention it was as follows:

Quote
Activision has abandoned the PC market........
not completely since they are still raking in a bunch of idiots cash with their COD BullOps......and selling map packs at like 20USD ? even on steam ,

My opinion is it has some merit  , I think with time your going to see a sharp increase in the price of consoles and at the same time less computer games being in the market place. It's going to easier to develop game for standardize consoles than it will for the PC gamer thus less time and money for development.
That would cut the cost and time for updates and patches , but not meaning they still wouldn't be needed.
I have to agree with him about continuing map packs  coming after the launching of the game tho , making the game over all more expensive in the long run

That's why I most likely won't buy the next Call Of Duty. After the fact that Black Ops on the PC is an afterthought, I'm seeying great promise in the next Battlefield game. Atleast they care about PC gamers.

I can see why they would use console's as there are less variables involved.

An in general the consoles generate higher sales for the COD series than what PC Gamers do.

Although this is likely to only annoy PC gamers.

I understand they get more money from console players, the games cost atleast $ 10 more and they are more prone to pay for DLC. What I can't believe is their low selling scores.

Starcraft II, an almost niche game with RTS games getting rare, sold about 4.5 million copies in 2010, 3 million where in the first month. Black Ops for PC sold 1.15 million until now, 750.000 in the first month. And it's an FPS game... This shows that just not many people are interested in buying it. The torrent-download statistics on PUBLIC trackers are in multiples of the sold versions of Black Ops for the PC. It's just a game not many are interested in buying.

This probably also has to do with the kind of people it targets. Starcraft is a game only fans and RTS-lovers buy. COD:BO has seen advertising EVERYWHERE and that attracts a kind of population that doesn't understand that downloading games through torrent is illegal, or they don't care. In my opinion, it's Activision's own fault for kicking the PC community in the nuts every single time and blaming them for crappy sales again and again.
