I decided to try building my first mini-ITX box. I bought a case and this mobo but I'm having trouble equipping the mobo with a heat sink. I don't have the retention bracket.

Will a S 478 retention bracket work?

Shouldn't your heatsink come with its own bracket of whatever sort it requires? I've always found that mine do unless they use the processor maker's standard mounting method, Intel's pins for example.

Look for a fan/heatsink for Socket 479, Socket M, Socket P or for a Core 2 Duo Mobile CPU.  Logic Supply carries them.
