Hi Guys
I hace had my shuttle for a couple of years now and although it has been very reliable, my quest to try and squeeze all of the potential of a qx9650 whilst keeping it quiet has led me to modify my shuttle to improve its cooling, my first step was to install a noctua NH-U9, this was an improvement over the original ice cooler, but a larger cooler would have meant doing away with the optical drive, so the only option I could think of that would allow me to keep the optical and improve the cooling was to fit a compact water cooled solution (I opted for a Corsair H60) which I have now installed.
Well the problem is that I am not sure my qx9650 hits full speed, if I set up as standard for example, multiplier 9 x 333 fsb = 3ghz when I stress the system with prime 95 whilst running CPU-Z its shows all cores under full load but according to cpuz its running at multiplier 6 x 333 fsb = 2 ghz, Core temp gives me the same result, yet windows in system properties tells me its running at 3ghz and so does speedfan, but these 2 last programs dont seem to detect any change in cpu speed regardless of the fact wether the cpu is idle or under load, so I am not sure if my shuttle is working correctly, it has only started doing this since trying run at a stable 4ghz in the last couple of days, by the way I have tried running different FSB speeds between 333 and 400 and multipliers and it seems stuck in mutliplier 6 when I check it with cpu-z.
So far I Have tried : * reseting bios, and selecting the correct option in the bios, no change. * format the hd, and clean instalation of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and all its updates. * checked the energy profile in the control panel, and have tried balanced and hi performance.
Any sugestions what to check next or what other programs I could use to double check things?
My next move is going to be update the bios to the latest version just in case, I have the Q bios and intend to installs the latest S bios, hopefully its not cpu or the mb at fault.
Regards
