Hello,
I've built the SH67H7 system with the following configuration:
i7 2700K, 4 x Kingston ValueRam 4GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9, 2 X Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" SATA3 in RAID0 configuration, 1 x WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA3. This system performs without any problem with onboard graphics. Unfortunately, when I install the MSI R6850 Cyclone video card I get immediately freeze or BSOD. The video card is ok because I tested it in other system. I installed the last BIOS and it did not help. Did I make some stupid mistake or does it mean that the motherboard is defect?
Thank you in advance,
Toller

Greetings and welcome to the forum,

First off, after reading a review of that card it seems like a keeper.

Nice choice except....

1- it vents into the box.

2- In the review I read it listed Power consumption as ~400W for a limited system.

Yours is pretty extensive.

So, What is my take?

1- you might need a stronger PSU - the 500W job to be specific.

2- Once you get it running it might overheat on you during heated "battle".

you could try to set the ICE to high and it should handle it.

LOUD, but what the heck it's a game, you can take it.

Good Luck

OldDummy,
Thank you for your prompt response and suggestions. I’ve forgotten to mention that I have already 500 W power supply. I think that overheat is not the reason because I get the freezes and BSODs just after booting the system when it is still cold. Furthermore, the system performs perfectly if I enable only one CPU core. It seems for me that there is incompatibility between the video card and motherboard that is really weird because this video card is supported by this system.
Best regards,

One core?

Weird.

It could be a driver problem.

Try reseating everything. mostly the ram and cpu.

Obviously you went into bios...hmm.

Try setting all to performance default or whatever along those lines.

Don't have one so don't know the exact settings.

While I can't rule out a defective board odds are that isn't it.

Got similar BSOD when changing from IDE to AHCI with windows throwing a fit.

Keep us informed.

Hi there

I doubt its the psu, even it was the 300 watt version, its hard to beleive that upon booting, the system power draw could exceed the psu, however it could be something to do with additional pci express power connectors, ensure you have the right plugs connected to the graphic card  and motherboard.

How ever considering that you can boot into windows, suggests the problem is maybe something else, a driver problem perhaps or a bios setting, as old Dummy suggested, check all the components, and recheck your bios settings, as for a problem regarding incompatability is unlikely, but to check that possibility I would suggest you also contact shuttle support, they might know the answer to your problem , as a last resort, I know its a bit extreme, but perhaps a clean intallation of windows with the 6850 in place might cure the problem.

it could well be the card, i purchased a 570 and that had heat issues as it did not extract the air out the back (had to swap for a different card)

however the crashes and freezes would not happen until gaming started and the heat raised.

have you got another hard drive? a spare one to do a clean install with the card already in the system?

if not you need to test that card in different system

Hi,

I used to have this problem but with a GeForce 560Ti. I've modified the CPU VCore and other voltages and now it's running rock solid !
