Which 92mm fan

I'm looking at replacing the stock fan that came with my SH67H3. I was going to get the Gelid Silent 9 PWM, but can't find anywhere local enough that stocks it.

I then found this which seems to get decent reviews.

Are there any others I should consider? I don't mind getting a non PWM fan (IIRC, they still work with the 4pin connector on the motherboard?) once it's going to be quiet.

From looking at your previous posts its look like you recently put this system together, so your original fan isnt exactly worn and the shuttle fan isnt that bad, but remember that this fan on its own is responsible for keeping your shuttle cool, which is why the fan that shuttle uses has a huge operating range from about 700rpm to 4000 rpm, and by the way any 92mm fan when run above 1400 rpm starts to get noisey, even the so called silent ones.

My sugestion is you get 2 identical 92mm pwm fans (the nexus you suggested are fine) and Y spliter lead for pwm fans and connect them to cpu header so can use smartfan, the second fan goes on the outside using the screws that secure the shroud of the ice cooler.

2 fans in a push pull configuration will move air and therefore allow you run the fans at lower RPM.


Can you tell us if you are using a graphic card and if so which model, I suspect you are using a graphic card which dumps the hot air inside your case.

I have recently put it together. The fan seems to be more of a 'buzzing' sound than an air moving sound if you understand me. I may just do what you're suggesting and get the two fans, makes sense.

I'm not currently running a GFX card, but I'll be getting one soon enough. (still undecided on which, possibly a GTX560 or equivalent)
