how do I edit my profile to remove my email address?

You can only edit your profile once you have reached a certain number of posts.

Your email address by default should not be visible to anyone else.

when you edit your email you lose the ability to see all your old posts

I tried to switch my ISP email to my gmail and i couldn't see my old posts anymore

You can change your email and keep your old posts. I have changed my email address numerous times an still have all my posts.

You keep your old posts, yes. But you can't see the threads that you have answered when you go into your profile a want to look at your old stuff.
