i just did a fresh install of my 98se (i think best one i have done yet  hehe) but i do have  small problem i would like to resolve. I am using internet explorer 5.5 sp2.  to add to that i am using the latest MSN messenger service... the problem is when i go to check my email (hotmail.com) i get a "security alert " and the it states that the security certificate is expired or not yet valid.  I am trying to figure out how to get this to go away... there shouldnt be a problem here i dont think because this is a site i have been playing my racing game on for almost 3 yrs now  and I never have had this problem.. can someone help me?

Well this can be a number of things.  Have you tried dumping all of your history and stored items for IE?  Where are your security settings at?  Is this a secure site that you're going to or not?

Hmm, I don't see any security on the page whatsoever.  So it's evidently pulling an invalid certificate.   AKA, one that doesn't exist.  Have you dumped all of your temporary internet files, history, and cookies?

Oh, no problem.  That wouldn't have been that obvious an answer in most cases, but I've found out that a good place to start with wierd errors like that is to dump the stored items and reset things to default and see if the error goes away.  If yes, you've found the problem, if no, you still got some homework to do.  In this case it fixed it, so you're cool.  That's why we're here, to help out people having troubles.
