Have been lurking here for some time (great forum btw) and will soon be joining all of you SFF'ers as I am putting together an EPIA-M system for the living room, the reason for my first post.

A couple of questions. I have seen many posts that the EPIA-800 has an overscan option in the bios for the TV-Out but after looking over some of the EPIA-M reviews, it doesn't seem to have this option. I realise the chipset has changed but does anyone know if this is/will be available. This will be on a PAL TV.

I have also read that the CPU fan is surprisingly noisy. Can anyone tell me how many pins the fan header has as I have a couple of fan-mates available and will probably put these to use. Failing that, has anyone changed the CPU heatsink and fan?

Thanks

I have an EPIA M with GA610 case. There's some oversan adjustments in the display driver control panel. I'm running 640x480 NTSC and the adjustments seem to be pretty funky, they don't seem to persist after reboot.

The CPU fan is a 3pin, the Zalman Fan Mate should work ok. My PSU fan is noisier than the CPU fan.

Thanks for the reply. I am also getting a GA610 case so I guess I'll have to tackle the PSU as well. What size is the PSU fan and is it accessible?

Also noticed you are running a TV-Wonder in the EPIA system. Do you use it as a PVR? How does it perform? Sorry for all of the questions, I am thinking of doing the same myself.

The fan in the PSU is a 40x15 protechnic. It's accessable and runs via a thermistor attached to one of the PSU heatsinks. I'm using the TV Wonder. It will record 320x240 without frame drops using 70-80% CPU, but wont do
TV on demand ( pause live TV ) with the ATI mmc 7.6 SW without stuttering. I can watch recordings from my SS51g over my 100 base-t LAN without problems.

I'd agree that the PSU fan in the GA610 is louder than the M9000's CPU fan & is a prime candidate for modding!
Can't wait for the new EPIA-M capable CF-7989, the CF-668 & the new Procase 2699 to arrive in January!!
