Hi all :-)

Some people might find this a strange question, but I was wondering about the SFF's and the new Geforce FX. The new FX's cards use up 2 slots and I need the PCI slot.
I have not bought a SFF yet but In one way it would be a shame that there would be no room for it!  There should not be any problems with heat as the air is blown out the back.

Any comments?

my comment :

1st - use the forum search function

2nd - a dual slot AGP card won't fit in a shuttle

3rd - you can mod a shuttle and your card to fit the second in the first.

4th - even if NVidia will produce every manufacturers firsts samples following its reference design (dual slot), every manufacturer will be free to do what ever he wants like a single slot FX card.

5th - eVGA has already announced planing releasing such a card (using ACS3 cooling system).

6th - QuadroFX (based on GeForceFX chip) are already announced in a single slot slower running version.

The AGP and PCI slots in XPCs are the other way round from standard PCs. Basically, there's no way that a 'standard' GF FX Ultra will fit in an XPC. However, it's likely that the non-Ultra versions won't use the double slot cooling system, and some third parties are likely to use single slot solutions on their cards:

If you don't get the double-wide, ULTRA FX card, then there's really no point, is there?  There are faster cards availale today.  An FX card will be able to fit into a shuttle with a serious window case mod.  Basically you'll have to have part of the card's ventillation system sticking out of the case.  It's going to be noisy as hell.

Who told you there won't be any single slot ULTRA FX ?
NVidia has released a single slot slowed down QuadroFX and sticks to its reference design for its full power version but we have no indication that manufacturers single slot version would be slowed down.

Wait & see ...

No point in getting the not ULTRA FX, you might be right (9700Pro might be faster and is already single slot) but you can't say anything about the single slot GFX version not yet released or announced.

NVIDIA's official take on the whole Flow FX being the only cooling solution issue is as follows:

They don't care what vendors use, so long as the chosen cooling solution keeps everything cool enough ( No small task for 1GHz memory and a notoriously-hot core )
