My friend recently came up which i believe may be linked to the bios. One day he left his computer on all night. When he woke up he found the computer was off. When he turned it on he got an error message which stated "BIOS rom checksum error" HE tried to falsh the bios with the latest version but the procedure encountered some errors. He still gets the same message. I think he may need a new mobo but if anyone has any advice to give he would be thankfull.

Did he try pulling all the drives and pci cards and just try to boot with cpu/ram /videocard? If you have a pci card it may be prudent to try and boot with it for testing.

After doing this did the system boot to the bios screen and if it says bios checksum error ignore it as we arent using a complete setup.

Did he check the cpu to see if its seated ok? Have you tried another cpu or tested the cpu on another system?

I would never flash the bios till you check individual components first as its rare a bios will just fail,CC
