Hello all,

This is really kind of a silly little post, but I have been kind of negative lately and wanted to say something positive.  See I had a great conversation the other day with a member of this community.  Black Cat and I spent an hour on the phone trying to figure out why his Shuttle is overheating.  I thought I may have some insight but alas it was not to be.  But I can tell y'all this, we spoke about a lot of things and all the conversation was good.  If he is any indicator of the people on this forum you are a hell of a good bunch of folks.  Think about it.

I have had some dealings with BlackCat outside of this forum too and second the motion that he is a good guy.  (Yes Blackcat, you can say "awww shucks" now)   Don't know how all the nice geeks ended up on this forum, but I'll also second the motion that you are all pretty cool.  Makes life a little less depressing at times when you have a nice bunch of people to deal with.

I think 'cause all the mean ones are over at Slashdot  I also have found this community to be friendlier and more helpful than the average online forums group.

ok, i'm blushing now.  i have been lucky enough to have spent some time with quite a few of the great people here (which is why i started folding in the first place).  Shinysteve (i hope your wedding went well) spent probably 2 hrs trying to help get my folding farm going.  SFFNoob and i spent quite some time on ICQ (i hope you find a good woman soon) and is a great guy even through a lot of adversity.  BMW tried to help me for almost 2 hrs the other night and we had a good time (you've got a couple of great kids too).  and who could forget my "cousin" Bobcat (thanks for the pics!) who still comes by even though he is doing his best to get tied down.  wytco0 is a great guy from across the pond that i wish i could have helped more with his farm.  and the list goes on...  that is why i am with BMW that win or lose, i am sticking by this group.

btw, BMW i am sending the box back.  i can't remember if i told you ( i mentioned it in another thread) but it was a refurbished box, so it might have a problem we don't know about.  i have rarely had a problem with refurbished stuff from newegg.com though.  i am going to look at all of the different brands before i get another one. do you have any suggestions?  it can be Intel based as i have a 2.4g Intel CPU.  again, thanks so much for your help and conversation!

Cat,

I am looking seriously at the Biostar iDEQ SFF, like Noob.  It seems to be a great system and I am looking forward to the early reviews.  I still think the Shuttles are great boxes.  I have stuck with the AMD boxes and can only speak for those but they seem to be well made.  Not perfect by any means but certainly the most stable machines I have owned.

Noob,

We tried all those things to no avail.  I think his power supply is FUBAR.

Here here,

I second and third that motion.
This board is much more civil than some of the others out there... not that I mind
some of the sarcastic humor, it's that as a noob, this board was much easier to
ask questions without getting the proverbial head blown off.

I much prefer reading and using the search engine for previously answered ?'s, but
hey, that's not everyone's cup of tea.

If it wasn't for this forum, I'd still be probably folding in the screen saver mode!
Thanks a bunch to everyone.

tHh.

PS:  Hey BMW rider, what's your horse?  I also saw a "SVRoadRacer" on the list as
well... hmmmm people with lives other than folding?  For me, SV650 nekked with
      Buell front quarter fairing.

I got to play against Black Cat online in Return to Castle Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory.  I wish I saw him online more.

We need someone to get some bandwidth and setup a Sudhian gaming server of some sort.

Hey SFFNoob!

I've asked the people that I've built SFF to fold for the team.. Looks like some of them
are coming through.  I'll ask them to correct it to add to theHedgehog fund!

Woot!  I'm yellow and folding ~1500 pts/ week!  Just broke the top 50 and gaining
steam.

As for some of the games mentioned can it be played using the PC or are they Xbox
or PS2 game?  Is ET the Atari 2600 game that killed Atari in 1983?

Anyways, I'l love to game online and was wondering what games some of you "folders"
play.  Talk to y'all soon.

well multiplayer I have most of the rainbow six series, starcraft, warcraft3, UT, enemy territory, BF 1942, delta force, dungeon siege, and probably alot more that I can't recall off hand.

I don't play much anymore... games are requiring broadband connections and my best friend is stuck with satelite and dialup.. niether of which is worth a crap for online gaming.

Try an SS51 - I have a 2.4GHz in mine, and it's been purring along since September - the 51 seems to be the least troublesome of the XPCs and is worth a look, if you don't need the latest and greatest hardware.  Also, it's cheaper now.

wow, i miss a day and everyone comes to play.  Scut, i also enjoyed and have looked a few times for you again there.  starting July4th i'll start having much more time to play.  i have considered renting a gaming server in the past, but never did.  if there was enough interest, i could go for that.  we would have to narrow our game selection to 1 or 2 games.  i really like the new ET and of course BF1942 and the Desert Combat Mod.  i have other games, but those are my favorites, at least until Half-Life2 comes out  i have DSL but the upload is only 128k and could only go up to 384k even though my download is 1.5Mb.  i doubt 384 is enough to play on and run a server.  let me know what you guys think.

btw, i'll check out the BIOSTAR.  thanks for the tip.

I could go for some organized gaming with friendly peeps...  I like BF1942 alot but I'm new at it and getting on a public server usually just gets me killed alot without much input as to what I need to do..   one time I was gunning down enemy planes.. only to find out that they were being flown by our side  whoopsie!  I got booted out as a team killer

its tough always beeing a Noob  Scutmonkey and i were playing on wolfserver.com's server playing ET.  people seemed nice enough since it was my first time to play more than 15 minutes.  i have only played a few times since, but i downloaded a guide to try and learn more rather than reinventing the wheel and angering the masses.  i am downloading the update to the Desert Combat Mod for BF1942 right now (it is 326MB!)  that might not be one to have since not everyone has highspeed internet.  do you have RTRome?  btw, have you tried playing BF in Single Player to figure it out?  it isn't too bad.  i haven't had time lately, but i am going to try to go back to flying school.  planes seem to be a bit too powerful to me, but then again i am just a grunt

I don't have RTRome no...   Newegg had bf1942 not too long ago for $26 + $4 shipping it was OEM with no instructions or anything... so I grabbed that up.

I've tried single player a few times...  I can do most stuff but I still haven't figure out how to fly

the instructions that came with it don't help.  try planetbattlefield.com.  they have a flying guide and other help and suggestions.  that was a pretty good deal.  i got mine the day it came out for i think $50+tax.
