Some free image hosting site (among many other useful sites) - http://www.philb.com/iwantto.htmThere are tons of sites out there that will let you host images for free, just do a quick search.

Anyone ever do a Power Supply replacement in the ECube successfully yet? I'm still running w/the original but am once again looking to extend the life of my cube by adding a larger PSU so I can move up to a more recent video card.

The thing that drives me nuts is that the board will support a faster processor then listed but its limated by the bios. it auto downclocks the dam cpu. I have a 3.4ghz cpu in the thing but it will only run at 2.8ghz. I've tryed the processor in other systems and it runs at full speed JUST fine. as to PSU replacement there is one easy way and thats to just use an external PSU. I've sent tons of emails to AMS and have recived NOTHING in reply (@#$#@ holes). What would be great is if someone would just build A PSU design that would conform to the inside design of the current PSU but extend out the back threw the open area which isnt small. That way you can have all the space needed to build a much stronger PSU. Or heck even a 2 part PSU that plugs into the back threw the orignal psu area but again is easy to install. The other easy mod would be to find or build a custom PSU that matched the bottem of the case and was maybe 2" tall. then just run some kind of nice tubing thing upto a dummy plate covering the oringal PSU area and have the wires go where they need to on the inside from there. Not perfict but better then nothing. The thing that sucks is you shouldnt run the POWER cables much more then 3 feet long. If you could then any one could just build a nice enclosure with a normal PSU only extend the wires all the way to the computer. say 5-6' would be good. then it would be setup a lot like the xbox 360, which has a HUGE psu on the outside and sends a power cable to the back of the system.

Sweet. Mine is still my gaming rig, but I'm still playing UT2004. I've been waiting patiently for UT2007 to come out before building another. Something interesting I stumbled across the other day was this. It looks like you may be able to buy the Falcon NW Fragbox case from someone besides FNW. Hopefully the price would be a lot cheaper there. I'd love to have an SFF box that would allow a dual core proc, SLI or Crossfire, a Creative Labs X-FI, and a Physics card. I know that's a lot to ask for in an SFF, but hey, a guy can dream can't he?

keepin' the flame alive... (lotta pages to read through, but great info) anyone still around?
just resuscitated a EG65 (my HTPC) after figuring out that a bad power supply was the root of my problems for the last year. fyi...the power solution I went with was a modular 400W psu (unmounted) sitting loose outside/behind the case. No mess of cables sticking out of the caseback, only what I need, and already sleeved to boot. Then I removed the stock xcross fan, blocked its vents, and mounted an 80mm outtake fan where the stock psu used to be. I covered all the remaining gaps on the caseback with a heavy airtight metal foil, so I get nice airflow through from the front intakes on the case...my temps are in the 30's C, and no real modding/drilling other than unscrewing/removing excess components. I don't care how the back looks, as I have it in an A/V rack and don't need to move it.
Anyone still have an extra/unneeded 800HT they'd be willing to sell? Also, question on that: is the 800HT's fanspeed variable/controllable from software (speedfan)?
TIA

I was unable to get it to work, but I know others were successful.
I don't have an extra HT800, but you may be able to get one from AMS Electronics or Chyang Fun (the actual case manufacturer).

Not only the thread, but at least *some* of the cubes. Believe it or not, it's still my main PC. I figure, until UT2007 comes out, why upgrade.

I`m still here. I usually hang around the mod section so sorry if I reply late. I moved to Matx for my main rig but still have three other SFFs.

I'm still around on Sudhian! But both my AMS EG65 and FIC Ice Cube eventually succumbed to bad capacitors or somethind and couldn't stay stable in games. So, I moved to mATX to have the phat graphics card, etc. Glad to hear that many are still using their cubes. I miss it! That little box still is my favorite case for portability (it fit in my carry-on duffel bag!!).

LOL. Wish I would have found this site a year and a half ago, before this thread was long dead. I have an EG65 and was trying to run a 9800XT on it. At first it would run for a little bit, but then it got to a point where it would crash shortly after starting up a 3D program, such as a game. It's funny that I modded my case similar to what a lot of people on here tried. I drilled nice holes over the 9800XTs fan for fresh air, and I placed a 80-90mm (don't remember exactly) fan on each side of the case. I never got it running right and was going to sell it, but didn't feel right because it would always crash, so it's been sitting around. I finally figured out 2 things. 1. I shouldn't have tried to stick a 9800XT in there. 2. It's not a problem with overheating. I've been running the same card in my desktop for over a year and it runs hotter than the one in my EG65. I'm convinced it's a power supply issue when the card is under a load. Also, it works fine in my EG65 when I disconnect the DVD drive, extra fans and take out the PCI wireless ethernet card. Running just MB, CPU, hard drive and video card and it runs fine. I found this: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce6600gt-oc_3.html So Now I'm looking to sell it and I need to figure out if I want to put a free fx5700ultra in it that runs 14W less than my 9800xt and is less powerful, or shell out money for a generic 6800 that runs 20W less and higher performance than my 9800xt. Unless anyone knows of a cheap upgrade to the 220W power supply that fits this tiny case? Or other/better video cards that definatley won't have issues running in this setup?

I haven't looked in awhile, but when I last did, there were no options other than some form of an external PSU. I was actually looking at some rackmount server power supplies and considering mounting them under the cube but never followed through with it. Running a 9700 Pro, here's the power draws I was seeing way back when: Idle.............................................................120 Playing MPG......................................................131 Copy file on 1 physical drive....................................131 Copy file across 2 physical drives...............................134...........Peaked at 155 Play Unreal Tournament 2004 demo & game..........................185-190 Burn CD..........................................................130 Burn CD & Play Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo.......................195...........Peaked at 205 Doom3 Timedemo Demo1 640x480 Medium Quality......................190-200.......Peaked at 210 Doom3 Timedemo Demo1 1024x768 Ultra Quality......................210-215.......Peaked at 222 Hardware: ========= AMS E-Cube EG65 - 220W Power Supply Intel 2.8Ghz P4 HT800 CPU Fan 1G Corsair XMS ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (128M) Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS 120G 8M 7200RPM HD 200G 8M 7200RPM HD 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-R/RW/CD/CDRW Burner USB Mouse USB Gamepad PS2 Keyboard 120mm Blue LED Fan 6" Blue Cathode Ray Tube My E-Cube is still my main PC. And for those that have read this thread, I'm still waiting on UT2007 before upgrading.

Howdy All! I'm sad, somewhat, to say that after 4 years of rock-solid performance, I am retiring my eCube. I'm going back to an mATX case so that I can use two Radeon 4870s that I won at a gaming competition. My eCube case is in good condition--the EL light broke some time ago--and I have an HT800 and modded side panels. If you're interested in purchasing any of the parts of my old box for repair parts for your box, email me at tcboring at msn dot com.
thanks,
Tom
