I have an All-in-Wonder 9800 Pro card installed in a Biostar iDEQ 200N cube with an nForce2-based motherboard, and I'm using the onboard sound.

All is well overall, but the sound is a staticy/clipped, as if the input is coming in too hot for the nForce2's Line-In jack.

I figured I’d try using the internal connection on the AIW 9800 card to go to the audio in on the motherboard. I connected a CD audio cable to the output on the AIW card and to the input (labeled CD Audio) on the iDEQ’s motherboard.

I’m guessing I should be getting the TV audio on the “CD Audio” line. But I’m not getting any sound when I select that in the ATI software, and I’ve checked the nForce toolbar to make sure the CD audio line is turned up.

Any ideas? Anyone have a similar setup on an iDEQ or other nForce motherboard who can share the appropriate settings?

Okay, turns out that it was a bad CD audio cable. Hardware problem! Swapped in a new cable and all is well.

Now, let's see if it solves the "hot recording" problem with the nForce. I actually have a spare audio card I could put in the iDEQ, but I'd rather not put it next to the AIW for cooling reasons.
