Zeus have a question.

Do I have to add the -service switch so it will continue to run and not shutdown if a user logs off?

No just do it as it shows the VB program does it for you but do add the Add the -advmethods -forceasm , and it will run as service when other users log on and off

Zeus my P4c is HT enabled and i have noticed it's using just 50% with Folding so i wonder if i'm simply install a new instance of Folding@home to example c:\Program Files\Folding2 and in there enable that to as a service in WinXP or how do i do it if it's possible as i saw in another post?

I check and saw you had only one processor running here

But yes install two clients in different directorys and run both, no sure if my easy folding setup will install it as two different services say'Folding' and 'Folding1' but give it a try and let me now so I can find out and post it in my link

I run Folding on a dual Xeon with HT and when you check the running processes it shows 4 FAHCore's all at 25%, so that should explain what you're seeing OLIRC.

was wondering how I can check to make sure its running?
Should it show up in the task manger?

ok, its showing up in the task manager now, 'think I forgot to put the stuff in the right folder.
now I'm concerned that 40-50% of the cpu is being used by "winlogon.exe" ?
I don't know what this is or why its useing so much cpu?
My fire wall, Zone Alarm, is using a tone of cpu too, 30-40 %!
Wondering if theres somthing I need to adjust in the firewall, or find a less cpu intensive one?

Is the CPU always being used by winlogon.exe, or just occasionally?

Zone Alarm sucks, and quite frankly if you use a software firewall, you don't have much of a firewall in the first place. I would recommend a router using NAT to solve any potential issues, as Zone Alarm just doesn't cut it in the long run.

Colin - just posted in windows forum
winlogon.exe is being used whenever the task manager is opened, the whole time the T manger is open.

I have a Gigafast EE400-R waiting to be hooked up. It should solve the firewall issue.

Zeus no go when installed two instances of Foldin@home in folders named folding@home and folding@home1 and installed as a service. Still on 50% on that Fahcore.

Edit: When i ran one as a service and the other in GUI mode then it's fine as they are two different executable files ie fahcore_65.exe and fahcore_78.exe so now on 100%

OLIRC

I went http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html#run.dual and got this

Quote

Does Folding@home run on dual processor machines?

Yes, you can. Additional processors must run the console version (with the "-local" command-line argument if run on Windows). First, make additional directories for each processor and copy the FAH3Console executable file into each. Then configure them with the -config switch, filling in settings for each. It is very important to make sure that under the "Advanced Settings" option each copy is given a unique machine ID (from 1 to 4). The first copy will default to a machine ID of 1, so additional copies should be given IDs of 2, 3 and 4. Each may then be run out of their installed directory, using the -local switch on windows. Instances should be attached to different processors, using whatever mechanism your OS provides for this purpose (e.g. Task Manager on Windows).

?

So you run the shortcut to the FAH console client with the '-config' switch added go into the advanced options and set the machince ID's to 1 and 2 for the different clients then just run the VB probem for each one of them and it looks like you need the "-local'' command too addding with '-advmethods -forceasm' so add '-advmethods -forceasm -local''

hope this all makes sense from an AMD boy, let us now if it works or otherwise

I think it's workin as the log says Machine ID 1 and 2 in the two separate folders i have installed Folding@Home but how can i be sure they bouth workin as Colinstoner says it's Ok even if CPU usage shows 50% or in his case with a dual Xenon 25%?

I know i can check my statistics but can i check on my PC that they are bouth in use right now?

OLIRC, you should get two clients @ 50 each. I get 25 because it's Dual Xeons with HT (4 clients).
