I haven't read the review itself yet, but thought it might be of interest to some of the other readers here.

I haven't heard much/anything about the AOpen SFF offerings apart from what was briefly mentioned at Computex, so this could be interesting  From what I know of AOpen, they are a budget Mobo manufacturer that *I think* are owned by Asustek.

So read on, mcduff...

Acer... Ahh right, knew it was a spinoff from SOMEONE :-)

After reading the review, they sound OK, but rather budget.  They'll probably get the real budget conscious buyers.  Not a particularly indepth review either, I might add.

I'm rather annoyed that they compared the Athlon Cube to the Intel Cube, rather than to 'normal' PC's or other SFF's. We already know how fast Athlons are compared to Pentiums after all. And it's hard to find a test with more or less the same setup - they use 9700PRO's, and that complicates matters.

The XCube has been available in Japan for a while, I think.

Kind of a blah review in my opinion as well. They just didn't delve too deeply into the particulars of the cubes themselves--setup, heat, noise, etc. etc. Kind of non-informative; at this point I agree most people know the performance delta between Athlon XP systems and newer P4's...

When looking at all the new cube 'clones' @ COmputex, I felt that thew AOpen XCcube was one of the better ones - nice build quality, thought gone into the thermal deisgns & nice looks!
