Often the hardest to find or learn about parts when you're trying to build a DIY SFF or LAN rig. LAPTOP CD-ROMS. Here's 3 models tested to work with widely available IDE adapters. Plus some parts to aid in the construction process.

1. Samsung SN-124S 24x CD-ROM = $25 + shipping
w/ Dell charcoal faceplate (shown removed)
2. TEAC CD-224E 24x CD-ROM = $25 + shipping
w/ black faceplate
3. TEAC CD-224E 24x CD-ROM = $25 + shipping
w/ charcoal faceplate
4. Laptop 5.25" drive IDE adapter (w/ screws) = $5 + shipping
5. Dell Drive caddies = $1 + shipping
Useful for mounting the drives in DIY cases or as a template for measuring attachment points (screws included).
6. Dissected SN-124Q = $2 + shipping
Used for more precise measuring of tray extensions and various screw hole positions
7. 1U PCI 90-degree riser = $5 + shipping
(due to clearance issues this is only recommended for use with networking cards, ITX mobos, rackmount cases, or the LAST PCI slot on a motherboard)
8. 2U AGP 90-degree riser = $15 + shipping (deal pending)

The faceplates on all of these drive are removable. If you are planning on using them in a DIY enclosure this can be very helpful since it's not too hard to attach any kind of flat cover onto the tray of these drives.
