Is it possible to mount a second harddrive under the primary hardrive cage? I would like to do this setup:
200N 2700+ athlon 2 X 512MB crucial pc3200 2 X hitachi [2 x 80GB] 7k250 SATA drives (RAID 0) plextor 708A dvd writer iomega 250MB 3.5" drive
is there a two drive cage or a addition cage to install in a 200n? I would like to use the two external bays for the plextor 708a and the zip drive and try to setup a SATA RAID 0 with the hitachi's inside. i would like to add a 80mm fan to replace the rear 60mm and install a 80mm fan by the PCI slot - i plan on using on board video (IGP), and hopefully that would cool the thing. I have ~$1100 for my new computer and i really want to grab a Ideq after hearing alot of good things about it. any comments?
oh to install this i would use a spare floppy drive and just plug it into the board to install the SATA/RAID configuration.

With all of that equipment, it seems you would run into a few problems. The first is space. There is only one hard drive cage in the 200N, a CDrom slot and a Floppy slot. You could mount your 2nd hdd in the floppy slot but then you wouldn't have room for the Iomega. If you fashioned your own hdd cage, I dont think there would be enough room since there isn't much clearance from the mobo.
The second problem you may run into is PSU difficulties. I'm pretty certain that a 200w power supply would have to WRESTLE to power 2 hdds and a cd-rom. Adding yet another drive would almost certainly give you issues either right away or in the future, eventually causing either the HDDs to fail or the computer to exibit strange behavior (ie, random reboots, blue screens in windows, etc).
The third problem is power connectors. The IDEQs PSU is a 200w enhance-220. I'm fairly certain there is a Floppy power cable, a hdd power cable, a cdrom power cable and a "spare" power cable. You would need yet another cable to get all of your devices in, unless a floppy power supply connector -> ide power supply connector exists.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just to let you know my findings with the IDEQ (which I've had many problems with). Please keep me posted on what you do with it.

well the advantage here is there is nothing in the agp slot, which would hopefully lessen the strain on the PSU. but here is an interesting twist: to save room and power, would it be possible to use two SATA 2.5" drives? I'm not sure when they are coming out, but the hitachi E7K60 travelstar is suppose to be coming out in SATA format soon. here are some specs:
Hitachi E7K60 60GB 7200RPM ATA-6
Requirement +5VDC(±5%) Dissipation (typical) Startup (max. peak) 5.5 W Seek (average) 2.6 W Read (average) 2.5 W Write (average) 2.5 W Idle (average) 2.0 W Standby (average) 0.25 W Sleep 0.1 W Power consumption efficiency (watts/GB)3 0.033 Physical size Height (mm) 9.5 Width (mm) 70 Depth (mm) 100 Weight (g) 115
Deskstar 7K250 250GB 7200RPM
Requirement +5 VDC (+/- 5%), +12 VDC (+10%/-8%) Startup current (max. A) 1.72 (+12V) & 068 (+5V) Idle 7.6 (3 disks)
Height (mm) 25.4 Width (mm) 101.6 Depth (mm) 146 Weight (max. g) 640
also isnt there a 220W or 250W PSU coming out too for the iDEQs?
