Does anyone know where I can get a cheap hole saw in the UK for an 80mm blowhole mod. Its £5.91 at Screwfix Direct fort a 76mm hole saw, and £7.70 for the arbour. Can I get it cheaper anywhere. Ive tried local hardware shops, and they dont have holesaws that big!

Also, for a mounting plate for said blowhole fan. Ive got some aluminium (found in the garage!) but its very thin; its as big as two A4 sheets of paper, and wobbles quite a lot when you shake it. Would this create alot of vibration? If its no good, where could I get something more suitable?

Thanks in advance!

That's not a bad price for a decent holesaw. The cheaper ones tend create pretty crappy holes with jagged edges ... imho it's worth paying the cash for decent tools.

Farnell.com can probably supply you with some alu. sheet.

I think your mad even thinking about getting a hole saw to do case modding!  Hole saws don't do clean cuts, and depending on how well you can keep your hand straight there could be a whole lot of work to do afterwards.

Look out for Qmax cutters mate!  They come in all sorts of sizes, and you'll be looking at a larger price of around £15 for a 55mm.

QMAX cutters cut perfectly and need almost no work afterwards.  Nice clean cut circles ;0)  I've got 20mm, 55mm, 77mm & they are fantastic little tools.

Hmmm, the modtown article doesnt leave any nastyness; I thought a holesaw was the clean way to do it. Besides I dont like the idea of shelling out enough for the holesaw, never mind hoiwever much an expensive 77mm punch cutter will be Huh

Surely if Im steady, and use 58,475 layers of masking tape, I can get a nice-enough cut.

I got my holesaw from homebase for £9 I think, very reliable! Go get one! You can only get different sizes in one pack, not just one holesaw

I have used many hole saws before!  You just need to cut carefully and clean up with a fine file afterwards.

(when I say many, I really mean 4)
