Ive seen plenty of threads on- and pictures of- Shuttle blowholes, but not one that can answer my question! (Im probably being a bit dumb!)
Just finished the first build of my SB65G2 yesterday, and Im preparing to put a blowhole in the top (two noiseblocker S3s should be less annoying than one S4, right?), but where should the fan actually be placed. Ive got the Samsung CD-RW/DVD combo which just leaves enough depth for an 80mm fan, but putting it over the ICE shroud would be ineffective, wouldn't it?
All the mods Ive seen have the blowhole in the centre, but it wouold make more sense hovering over the GFX card wouldn't it?
Ah the joys of your first mod!

Well, I don't know about most other people, but I did this:
Moved the ICE fan to the outside of the case (in back) and eliminated the shroud. Used a plexiglass piece from LOWES and cut it so that it sat across the fram behind the CD drive and the suspended the fan from the plexiglass. Stole the idea from Joseph Clemente.

well actually ive just done this exact same thing 2 weeks ago but just left the shroud inplace (theres still plenty clearance) ,instead of actually using the 80mm topfan as an exhaust fan tho ive decided to use it as an extra intake fan and i definately dont think its innefective, this 80mm topfan along with my 70mm intake on the psu side keep my whole sytem extreemly cool, cpu idles on most days at 35c (no central heating) to 38c (with central heating on) and never goes past 44c in any game nomatter how long i play and only takes minutes to idle back down into the high to mid 30,s.
im now planning on doing exactly the same thing with my sk41g,i already have an 80mm intake on there so i know for certain adding another 80mm intake ontops gonna help keep things cooler than it was before even with the shroud.

ya i left my ice shroud and all intact and just place an 80 behind my drive (but i have a lite-on which is pretty short) , ive done it with a fullsize 80 but i recently changed it to a 15mm thick zalman 80mm , its a tad bit louder but it gives me back some crucial space for all my wires,, but taking the case offf and putting it back on is H*LL b/c you have to disconnect the fan cable (im using an extension from the mobo) and when you put it back you have to push the fan cable back in place or it will be ugly in plain sight or be chopped off when it pops out just before you put the screwson the case

I have two 60mm blowholes on the top of my shuttle - theres a 10mm overlay of fan-ice shroud. 5mm space between the bottom of the fan and the shroud though.

What do you mean by that (Im feeling slow today!) If theres only 5mm clearance between the fan and the shroud, doesnt that cause massive airlflow problems. Edit: Damn; my sigs too long!

I think he means that the about 10cm of the fan site over the ICE with the rest unimpeaded by it. 5cm is small, but it will work. Might be turbulant and not as effective as a clear shot, but its better than nothing.
