Hi guys,
I am thinking of gettin my hands on a cubit and building a nice mini-itx machine I will be using the latest board in the range I believe its the EPIA Nehemiah M10000. I am going to want it for web surfind and e-mail and a for a light bit of web design with Dreamweaver and fireworks. However I am wondering does anyone know how fast it is with office 2004 and Norton Antivirus 2004? As in is it fairly nippy when ur using it. I would expect it to take a bit longer to load than my 1900XP machine.

Cheers
Tom.

I've been running MS Office 2003 (Outlook, Excel and Frontpage) on a M9000 933 MHz with 256 MB RAM on Windows Server 2003 both locally and over RDP. This is the CPU before the Nehemiah and all is fine. I've done web surfing and whatnot without problems. I'm also running Symantic Antivirus 8.1. To me it's definitely a bit slower than my Athlon 2000 but nothing that I really notice. The biggest "problem" for me is that I'm not running accelerated video drivers so local access is not great. I never intended to use it locally but I had my main XPC die on me recently so I had to fall back on the Mini-ITX system for several days.

Big apps like Photoshop and Dreamweaver may be a bit of a drag on it. Certainly if you are doing anything that is CPU intensive, I would look at the Cubit with a P4 or PM m/b.
