Hi guys (especially johnrr6),

Here's what I've been doing to my system.

I'm running my 1700+ at 200x11 (2.2GHz) with a Radeon 8500 and a Leadtek Winfast Tv Tuner (simialr to the one used by johnrr6 here except that mine is Pal-B). The system has no problems running and is very stable. But when watching tv, i am getting horrible distortions on certain channels, especially the higher frequencies. Btw, I'm in singapore so I don't know how many of you will be familiar with it. Anyway, the lower frequency channels seem to be fine.

I immediately suspected the agp card, since it SO close to the tv tuner . So I removed it and tried out the onboard. Knowing that johnjrr6 got dead boards by running onboard video at 200fsb, i downclocked to 133fsb.

The tv tuner works fine now. And i'm running at 166fsb now. But in all honesty, I would prefer to use my 8500 instead of the onboard graphics.

So my questions are:

1) Does anybody have any problems using a tv tuner with an agp card? I thought it was the active cooling, so i plugged out the fan. But there was still distortion. SO i'm guessing its electrical interference instead of physical interference. Any comments? Anyone using a similar setup with/without problems.

2) Has anyone tried running > 166Mhz fsb with onboard graphics? Any problems? I would love to test it out but i can't afford the downtime in case the board dies on me. The stocks for the 200n in singapore isn't very high. I'll probably have to wait a month to get a replacement.

Thanks for any help guys.

i've got win tv 2000 next to my graphics card, and get vertical lines running down on all chnnels. Not the reception as i have run arial into a standard tv and works fine.

I think it's just that the innards are so close on the ssfs that there's bound to be interferance :-(

Oh well, not sure what to do really!

Not quite the same but I run an AIW 9800 in my 200N and it works fine in fact the Tuner reception is much better than it used to be when I used a seperate card, although that might have been the card.
So there is a solution, albeit an expensive one. Oh and I use an Arctic VGA Cooler on the AIW card which makes it virtually silent (just need to sort the rest of the fans out now !!)

Anyone had luck or info on the Nvidia video card/TV tuner graphics card called Personal Cinema? Similar to the ATI All-In-Wonder but is FX based, not Radeon. That might be another solution for you. Still expensive, though.
I used the on-board graphics and they worked great until I tried BF-1942. Then lockups and BSOD all the time. The IGP seems to work great for all my other apps. I also have a Shuttle SN41G2 with the Nvidia IGP and it has no problems with BF-1942 using the on-board graphics. I don’t know why Biostar has a problem, but the Shuttle has an actively cooled IGP chip, unlike Biostar’s passive design.
