What do you mean? You just slip it on and it goes right around the corners. It fits like a glove

I've used stuff like this in the past, and its fairly rigid. When it came to corners, it would only look right on rounded ones - Square ones made the stuff bunch up & hang off.

Not the C-Strip stuff. See my original post for the link to it at PCMODS.com. Works perfectly. See my pics, you won't see any bunching up.

spray painting the meshsorry camera was out of focus. Hey PerfectCr, what kind of double sided tape did you use? 3m double-sided scotch tape? 3m Mounting tape? also how did you manage to get a cylindrical piece of mesh straightend?

I think it was the 3M tape. I ran out of it but I think that's what it was. Once the spray painting was done I put the mesh underneath a 14 pound container of cat litter for an hour. That's straightened it out real good

Nice modding PerfectCR.. The window mesh mod is truely nicely performed.. The only thing missing IMO is to stealth up that drive Would definantly put a nice finishing touch to the 85G4

how in the world do you stealth mod a sn85g4 drive?...lol, i think it would actually make it uglier.
The drive cover isnt like that of a g2 or g1, it's uberly thick and nasty looking. It would just look like an ugly bulge.
plus the cover, is really heavy and would make your tray drag down.

No one says that you have to use the original cover. I know it, and as you say it isn´t exactly the most extravagant and aesteticly beatiful drive cover, but use something that will work the way it should. Maybe take a drive cover from a Lian Li Black case and cut the sides of an attach it to the drive and that way stealh it. The only thing required is to pull the drive back a few inches and I would look sweat.

im still trying to picture a lian li drive cover. Are you talking about the drive plate? like a bezel that goes on the cdrom? or the stock case cover that is just smooth and screws onto the case?

Did you sanded it in between coats? What spray paint did u use? What brand? Im giving in. It would be like yours and perfectccr. How did you guys did the rounded corners? Your technique? Did you cut the mesh the same size as the hole?

I just got done doing this mod (thanks for the idea!!!) on a BioStar Ideq. I got rounded corners (slight, didnt want big corners) by marking out a square to cut and then placing a dime in the corner and marking the radius of it. Cut it out with a dremel and leave the corners at an angle. After its completely cut out, the sanding drum will finish out the radius of the corners perfectly. Mesh on both sides and two blue 4 inch cold cathodes with a custom micro toggle switch, I love this mod (not to mention that my temps went down about 8 degrees cel.)

I'm not home at the moment so I can't check what brand paint it is, but I paid like $2.50 from home depot.
I never sanded down anything, I just kept flipping over the mesh and just applied a new coat every 2hrs. It came out really clean looking and glossy.
As for the cutting of the case, The corners are sqaure, when you use the molding, it automatically turns the corners into rounded corners. The size of the mesh is 3/4in bigger than the hole on each side.

Exactly. My cut is square as well but with the C-Strip it looks rounded.

i got my c-strip from hereif you were to look at the case fron the insde, you'll notice that the mesh is flat again the case held with mounting tape, glue, double sided tape or whatever you choose to use. I'll try to get a picture when i go home. the molding you're looking at from directron is for holding windows in place that need to be perfectly cut.

Simple math bro. Make the MESH slightly bigger than your hole so you can affix it to the case. Not sure what you don't get. Read my original post in this thread. The link you posted is NOT, I repeat is NOT the same as C-Strip. That stuff is for case windows. It not to be used for MESH. Also that stuff is too thick and looks like crap.

very nice- Alex08 - I ran out of patience and just put 4 coats on this project mesh and case . it's chipping already. I have to pick up some high temp clear coat for the next project. Practice makes perfect, and the paint job was my first time! the next case will be my steel xaser II,. look out!

Wow, looks great! Has inspired me to want to mod my case in the same fashion. I've never used a Nibbler before... how does it "start" the hole? Thanks.

thanks nosticky, all credit goes to perfectcr
technically you cannot start a hole with a nibbler, I started out with a dremel to get most of the cutting done, then I started using a nibbler to get the rest. Later I filed down the rough ends.
