I've found that my Ati 9800PRO got way to hot. By cutting a hole just infront of the fan on the graphics card the temp drops from 60 degrees to 32 degrees. And here comes the "W I L D   P A R T " ..... speedfan on the graphic fan runs at 1 percent speed... Yes thats right 1 percent and furthermore I've put af Zalman FanSpeed on it to. After playing 6 hours of counterstrike or unreal, quake, osf... the ribs on the fan is cold to the touch. No noise and no heat what so ever.... It works like a tornado effect.

So guy's start cutting.

I have posted a thread below with a picture of my SB75G2 modded with silver cover, window in real glas and speciel made sug hole.
Specs are P4 3.06 HT, 1 gb corsair, 2 sata 160 gb inside, Ati 9800 pro 256mb, 120mm outboarded Titan aluminum fan with adapter, papst fans on board and in the powersupply.

It's soooooooo COLD, silent and sweet!!!!

Dont have a ftp... so to see the picture use this adress: www.vdg.dk/defaultforum.asp      you will have to click the subject: Problemer og Løsninger    -and afterwards the subject: 9800 Pro bliver meget varmt       - and voila. Sorry for the mess. But when I cant uploade the picture, this is the only solution.

For those who don't like cutting, similar results can be obtained with the mesh case cover.

I agree, that's why I have yet to order one, I can't bring myself to order one when I can get a Nibble for $10 and some mesh for even less and try it myself.

Certain manufacturers have built in temp monitoring, but unfortunately i dont think Sapphire is one of them. i have a sapphire 9700pro and it doesnt come with any temp monitoring.

I am fairly sure the ASUS 9800XT's and i think even the Pro's come with onboard temp probes. Usually the cards with the more robust software packages and overclocking features built into the software have tenp monitors.

As for cards that dont come with them. All i can think of is to put a temp probe up aginst the side of the gpu and run it to a temp monitoring device.

Just to comment on your questions about which model....

It's an SB75G2 with silver front and cover.

Didn't like the meshcover or the black cover on SB75G2, so i traded away for this silver one which i modded with window and the blowhole...

it's like old-fashioned pvc pipe cutters. back and forth motion of the wire cuts the plastic. but a fine-toothed wood/plastic hole saw could do that.

I'm pretty sure he said is was actual glass not plexi, hence the nice hole.
