Been looking in this forum for a while so I thought I had better join in.

The temperatures on my sn41g2 with Athlon xp2600+ where starting to creep up so I thought it was about time I started to play with the puter and pop the lid. I had already changed the standard fan, it was getting noisy, for an 80mm Coolmaster and this had helped with the heat problem and noise. The case is still standard and no extra holes have been cut.... yet!!

The temps at the start of this project before popping the lid were case-54 cpu-56 psu-51 hdo-49 so this was my baseline. All temps taken after a 1 hour idle period with approx room temp of 22 degrees just to try and keep this scientific.

Next I popped the lid took off the shroud from around the radiator and saw that the fins had more dust and fluff on them than the top of my wardrobe so I vacumed out the all the crap and then replaced the shroud . Turned the puter on and waited an hour and took the new temps case-51 cpu-54 psu-49 hdo-46 so de-fluffing makes a difference.

I had a spare 80mm Coolmaster sitting in the box so I mounted this on the outside of the case on the other side of the cooling grill so one fan was sucking and one fan was blowing across the radiator. Turned on the puter waited and hour an took the temps case-47 cpu-48 psu-45 hdo-43 another good drop in temps.

The bug had now bitten so my last mod was a to remove both 80mm Coolmasters and buy an 80mm~120mm convertor and bolt this on to the outside of the grill . I had a spare 120mm Antec fan in the box so this was used to pull air over the radiator again turned on the puter waited an hour and these are the temps case-40 cpu-42 psu-37 hdo-39 .

So the conclusion is for a few Dollars/Pounds you can lower the temps on your puter by at least 12 degrees , this is now modding in progress the dremmel has been dusted off and a grill has been sourced.
