Flashed my 9800 pro to a XT  Directions here http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=5
I know this is old news, but I am so stoked to turn a card I paid 260 for into a XT...Saved 100 bucks.  Got my card from Mwave anlong with Unreal tournament 2004, now I just need to upgrade my cooling.  And I am running it off the stock 200 watt PSU.  Since I have the mesh case, no rise in system temps...the noise has gone way up however.  The stock fan keeps the card at 68 at idel and in the 70's at load.  -MKH

Wooh thats hot

Glad to hear the 200w is doing fine with the card.

I'm getting an XT soon, and I hope the 200w can handle it

you miss my point....the sapphire 256 IS a XT it even has the holes in the PCB were the extended cooler goes.  I am not overclocking.  I have more headroom to overclock if I choose to.  Plus I gained overdrive and temp monitoring.

save your bios then flash away...if it artifacts or fails, you can just clear the bios and flash to the orgional.  Post a picture, I could maybe tell you.  Mine has the hole in the PCB for the XT cooler, and Hyphinx ram, so a dead give away.  The cards are physically identical except for the coolers.  MKH

Nice one with the link Mike.
It looks like I could flash my 128 too, but I don't have a floppy drive in at the moment.
Anyway, thanks to the link, I've now got Radlinker and I've o/c'ed (for the first time) to core 412 and memory 365. Repeated tests with 3dmark03 & 2001 with no artifacts.
GPU temps topped out at 58*C during testing.

Cheers.

I keep a USB floppy around for stuff like this.  I have not tried it with Flash Rom, but I have made DOS bootable CD's before, if you poke around the net there are several, and that  feature is built into the nero 6 trial.  Cheers -mkh

Have you booted to a USB device on your '45?
I think I've seen an option in the bios to do so, but I've never tried it.
I've got a usb zip drive do you think it'll work as well?

Have you done any before and after tests??
Just curious to see how much of a gain you will get.
I will check out the link myself.
I have a ATI Retail card at home.

Strom-
Just change the boot order in the bios settings, make the USB device 1st.  http://www.gc.peachnet.edu/www/wbeck/Ghost/GRD/setup.exe here is a link, for a usb thumb drive I have not used that app.  so I can't vouch for it.  You could boot from a CD-R, that seems to be the easiest way.
DK-
I benched the card before I flashed it, with 3D Mark '03 it was like 5800 something, it went up to 6K something.  But the biggest reason I did it, since the diffence between 9800 Pro 256 and a 9800 Pro 256XT is only 8-10% was the temp monitoring/Overdrive.

if its an old pro it probably wont work, r350 core is old pro, new pros are r360, which is the same as the xt uses, r360s nearly always flash, r350s sometimes dont.
